Redwood climb with theXman, MattyD and the BiXman.

Re: Redwood climb of theXman, MattyD and BiXman.

I hope you are kidding, because you were invited, several times I'm pretty sure, by me and I think Bixler did too.

You never responded.

Ginko, it's something an arborist should experience at least once in their lifetime.

I guess just don't post about it on treebuzz when you do.

Re: Redwood climb of theXman, MattyD and BiXman.

Looks like a great time was had by all. For those who have been wanting to go for a climb in the redwoods, the trees will be there for a while.

All that is needed is a decent launcher with a fishing reel, a throwline twice as long as it can shoot, and a climbing line long enough to reach the moon.

Looks like a get-together is in order. It is more fun with a group climb.

But if what you're looking for is a reverent experience with a quiet, reflective time to contemplate nature, others shouting raucously may shake your tree.

Such an event could turn into a real circus with party crashers. Everyone brings their own talents to the table, and the joy is infectuous.

As far as this thread, it's interesting to see how it ended up in the General category, rather than the Recreational Tree Climbing category. General gets more traffic. Later, when folks are looking for old growth climbing stories, it may be harder to find.

I'm really glad to see people realize how much work there is in editing & posting video. When the climbers finally get around to posting, it will be nice to share.

The file sizes are enormous. I returned from the ISA conference Portland with about 50 gigs of files, most of which I haven't watched yet. The SD cards were being unwrapped like sticks of chewing gum. So much for capturing earth shaking events for posterity. History is trapped in a box.

Ox,

I like your post.

I didn't even think about the rec climb forum, as I don't think I've ever visited it or thought about posting in there. General was the best I could think of using.

yes, I would rather this be in that rec climb area.

There are more people in that area that are more likely to enjoy the story anyway.

Moderator, please move this to the Rec climbing forum if it's not too much trouble. Thanks.

@ Oxman ...

Speaking of file sizes ... or video length ... the trailer in the OP of this topic actually leans the right direction, even though it's still pretty short.

I'd watch more of your videos start to finish if they were shorter. There's a tendency for a lot of folks to make 9 minute videos, that can easily be cut down to 4 to 6 minutes.

Yep, the judgement is quick to rain down looking from the outside in. When I want a quiet climb I go solo, group climb changes the dynamics, of course!

Hey Ox, you can send that vid to me and I'll go through it.

Yes Nick, this is why I was asking you about what to use. I got a floor pump from Walmart for $22, the gauge reads up to 200psi. My first time on the pump, it was a lot faster than I thought it was going to be, the only trouble I had was taking that hose thing off of the APTA once it was pressurized... it eventually came off with a tug.

Limited daylight, so I got off one shot at 165psi with that 12oz, I was quick on the trigger so that ball flew real high!
