Promotional videos

I hate quick grapple saw trees...ones that take under 2 hours. I have not figured out how to fairly charge for them yet (both for me and the client). Sometimes it is too cheap to charge a 2 hour crane charge, and sometimes it is to expensive to charge a 2 hour minimum (I would prefer more of a 3 hour...but I sometimes use the crane on smaller stuff).

But I agree I don't like the "cheap" term you used. Before my grapple saw, I always figured a crane tree cost the same as a rigged tree (just one takes more time then the other). With the grapple saw it has made the trees even quicker, especially if I can do the whole trunk with it. So therefore it has become a bit cheaper at times.
So those simple hour long jobs, how long would it take with a stick crane? What would that cost be?

A. I probably wouldn't be using a stick on them, due to it being small and setup time. (using mine cause I have it and why not make it faster and easier. But if I charge a 2 hour min it will cost more than if I climbed it.

B. If I have the room, it would be a 1 pick tree with a stick. But potentially a lot more set up time.

C. The stick I sub has a 2-3 hour min.

Cable work is the same with a kboom as a stick crane to me. People don’t hire me to do crane work, they hire me to do what Cranes can’t. A 40 ton is capped out at 75’ radius. I’m just getting started at 75’.

On smaller jobs like that, i just do it percentage wise.. it's probably a job that doesn't have any good tie in's or no gin's and it would just make the job Smoother by bringing me in. At that point in time I usually ask for half of the job and I usually get them. Since I cut it down and Stage it for them. If they think it's absurd they won't call me. But over the last couple years they realize it's worth it. So sometimes I've got as much time setting up and putting away as it takes me to do the whole job.

Voice-over. Needs more than music. Did you see Steve's videos?

"rigged out" can become "roped-down" or 'roped'-down or "roped-down".

You've already lost consumers by "rigged".

"no more destroying yards..." changes to a positive message... "Imagine your yard looking as great after a large tree removal, as before". Zero-impact. We barely walk on your lawn! No worries about your flagstones!

Change 'our grapple/saw can hold 6k' to 'grapple-saw',IMO.

Stress the safety for dead trees without a climber, and the efficiency of climber's using the kboom for reach, with/ without the grapple-saw weight.

I like Steve’s video a lot. We watched it in our meeting with our financial advisor when deciding to buy the truck. Obviously Steve did a great job getting the pint across because it sold me-a tree guy and a mega millionaire buddy of mine who is not a tree guy.

I agree on the roping part. It’s on my list to change. Waiting for more relevant video first. It’s a project making these changes. I’m doing it all my self. I’m no expert if you couldn’t tell.

Positive message change for sure.

I’ll have to give that fourth point some though. Maybe you could elaborate with some examples?

I appreciate the difficulty in creating these videos. If you are happy with it, then run with it. We all have opinions and I actually found some of the feedback I got to be petty and unproductive. Some of it was great and some was the opportunity for people to just try and piss on the parade. Either was you have to be happy with it. I will say slapping something together in a hurry will be less productive than waiting and having it professionally done. Having said that, my promo video and thumb drive mailings didn't get me a single customer. I continue to add customers by word of mouth and job site drive by-s. I am marketing to a different group than you are. I looked at a lot of promo videos before I decided what I was gonna do.

I’m happy with it but appreciate the input from others. I can’t say I wouldn’t change it more if I heard good input. I hate that your video hasn’t worked better for you. It impressed me for what that’s worth. I’m looking forward to working with you this storm season.

I have gotten a few good gigs from mine already. including a big city contract where I can just cut it and leave it at the curb. The beauty with that contract is that it is city trees and by the street, and I’m the guy that gets paid to do the loader truck pickups for those jobs already.

I’ve gotten a handful of tree services chopping at the but to get me out as well. Plus my tree work takes about 60% of my available crane time already.

The point is, the video can easily be edited to fit your truck. I can change the lettering and specific shots to match your truck. Maybe it would be helpful. Let me know
