Petzl ZigZag letter

This is insane. Petzl is easily the gold standard of verticality. I agree that the situation is less than ideal but hear this...

Petzl has my 100% trust. If Paul Petzl told me that I could douse myself in gasoline, light a match and jump off a building AND BE OK... I would believe him.

Petzl has earned our trust through decades of quality manufacturing and responsible practices. They made a mistake and have done the testing to prove that isnt a real safety issue. Those people in NZ obviously have some kind of vendetta. Isnt it strange all the SUPER high quality of shiny broken gear? Or interesting that Tregoweth was posting links to GriGri recalls that he knew happened 4 years ago and were handled with the highest of concern.

This is a bunch of crap, people need to stop hating.

Really Tuttle? Bonner is a climbing dictator? Shame on you bonner for sharing your opinion. This thread is only for those who have an opinion against the zigzag. We should start a thread for those who like and trust the zigzag and then blast those against it with tongue in cheek sarcasm.

The zigzag will go down in arb history as an abject failure.

Petzl's pitiful attempt to mimic the friction hitch is nothing short of cataclysmic.

Whatever possessed them to venture into a realm they were so ill equipped for we will probably never know.

What they attempted with the zigzag was thoroughly despicable. It was, is and will always be the Frankenstein's monster of the treeclimbing world.

I maintain my advocacy. I personally love it. Hey different strokes although I think you guys are making a really big deal about it. At least reading this is better than a stick in the eye.

TC, I agree that the zigzag is not a well constructed thing.

The one thing that got me was that if you extend the links (not on the rope) and check out the amount of leverage, if that was one thing that was pushed to the limit, I doubt it would ever had come to market.

I see your point. My kit bag stays in the truck box. On top of the pile of other stuff but when I kept it on my rope I made sure it was laid flat on top of the rope. I withdraw my sarcastic statement Tuttle.
