Owner/operators...balancing time ???

Re: Owner/operators...balancing time ? ATTENTION!!

Well now!!! As anyone who has been around TB for any length of time knows, Mark and I are pretty open to letting discussions flow. It's very rare that any threads get deleted outside of the usual spamy garbage. It's also rare that the LOCK key gets used.

Here is what I'm proposing...

I would like every participant in this thread to take a look at what they've contributed. Read the posts over and consider using your 'edit' option to make any changes that you feel would make this a better thread. I'll watch the thread. If things keep drifting the LOCK is going on.

I don't read every post or follow every thread. If things start to drift Mark and I will send an off-line email to the poster asking them to self-edit and stay on track. This thread is one that I wasn't following. If anyone has a comment on a thread that needs our attention, please write to Mark or I off-line.

Let me share a story from history...

Back in the formative years of the original ISA discussion forum there was a community that developed that was real similar to what has developed here at TB. The regulars took a personal pride in keeping the discussions on target. When a thread would drift a little a gentle nudge was given to keep the thread on track or start a new one. This worked about 99% of the time. Then, along comes a nasty fella who started to attack and spew. The only purpose was to create a reaction which is exactly what happened. After seeing too many threads getting derailed or tanked I came up with an idea. I took the time to send out an email to the core participants and formed a 'shun'. We all agreed that when 'nasty' came along that we would not comment. The best way to deal with a bully is to ignore them. Whenever a newbie would react to 'nasty' any of us would write to them off-line and enroll them in the shun. It only took a short time before 'nasty' slunk off to the dung heep where he lived.

Be careful about tossing out sideways barbs or getting sly. Most times it is pretty darn clear that a jab is being thrown. If you feel like being clever, consider sending a note off line to the person.

Re: Owner/operators...balancing time ? ATTENTION!!

Hey Tom,
the forum software does not let me make changes. Great idea tho, I would be happy to delete the parts of my posts that are un-neccessary.

Re: Owner/operators...balancing time ? ATTENTION!!

why not just delete the posts you think are innapropriate? I'm happy to trust your judgement.

Re: Owner/operators...balancing time ? ATTENTION!!

I reckon the word bro should be put into the auto block software, I trust your actions to Tom, cant edit, board wont let me.

Re: Owner/operators...balancing time ? ATTENTION!!

'Bro', bro (ekkka) is the same venacular as 'mate'. Why cant you understand the language of other cultures? You should at least have a basic understanding that there are other cultures other than your own.
Just go to the library and look at a map of the world. This map will show you all the different areas on planet earth and all the different cultures within those areas. From there you can learn about what a wonderfull and diverse group of humans are.
Maybe then you will recognize that to put down a specific culture or genetic strain of peoples only makes us all seem subhuman..... We are not so different geneticlly, just check out your avatar. Is that person really different than you?

Sinceraly,

Frans

Re: Owner/operators...balancing time ? ATTENTION!!

'mate' also referres to ones 'life mate', in the venacular of where I live. So calling someone 'mate' may be construed as a homosexual invite (at least in the United States). This is an insult to many peoples. On the other hand, calling someone 'bro' can be interpeted in different ways as well.

So both are to blame, right?
Or, if you all realize a 'educated global perspective', no one is to blame and both parties are alike.

so lets leave all this behind us o.k.? The real point of the TreeBuzz is to share information, experiances, and yes, opinons, regarding the challanges and triumphs of being a tree care professional.

Not placing blame on each other.

To use an overworked salutation:
Peace out brothers!

Whew!!!

Over the last couple of days I'vee spent about 1.5 hours tidying up this thread. That's part of running a business...and 'parenting' :)...

At times I don't read all threads or posts. If anyone feels that there is something that needs Mark's or my attention, drop us an email so we can nip it in the bud.

Yeah delete or edit the title of the UK arborists thread which is a down right insult to leave up..........

Matt if you didn't get to read the whole thread at the Treehose I have it in a word document.

I cannot afford to take a moral high ground if I did I would be a fool." (High Scale)

Re: Owner/operators...balancing time ? ATTENTION!!

Yes I have read the whole thread, I believe your good bro Ekkka was the chief protagonist in that thread failing to undestand the difference between topping and pollarding. Most of the posters in the thread were speaking of conifer hedge.

Why I'm bothering to post a reply to you i don't know.

The photos were of topped hardwood trees and there were a lot more members speaking out against the abuse than just Ekka.

My experience has shown that to be an exercise in futility.
