older chipper for sale

1988 Morbark 290 12" disc chipper for sale. 2.9 liter, 4 cylinder, 76 h.p. runs and chips. Less than 2000 hours. $5,000 o.b.o. Williston Vermont.

Does this chipper have any safety features? Its only a few years younger then me, and I do love old equipment... What is the weight on it?

safety features include:tail, brake, turn signal lights.
feed wheel reverse and forward bar. the housing covers all belts. I know both guys that owned it before me. George Lovell and Tony Cherette. Mostly chipped prunings. I rarely maxed it out.

oh yeah, it is registered at 4,000 lb.

I used to own one and loved it. It is a great mid-to small sized chipper with good power for its size. Tows real nice, too.

I owned a couple of those Morbarks. I think you'll find it's a 3.9 Cummins. Nice basic simple machine.

Kman, if it's a gas model, it could be a 2.3 liter Ford, I believe it's the industrial version of a Tempo or Ranger motor. I think it's called the "234." (2.3, 4 cylinder) At least that's what mine had in it.

Sorry it also has a Ford diesel motor in it if that helps it runs like a beast for it's age just isn't pretty is all but I'll fix that with a nice custom paint job when work slows down.

I'm gonna check for number before I buy I forgot to look there or by the flywheel someone said. Then I think I can just give that number to morbark and they can get me info.

Motor looks very similiar to the ford bsd 444 86 hp we have in a mid 90s backup unit.
