Notch 3/4 block

Posted about my new block yesterday on Instagram and some guy sent me this:

Says an extreme shock load forced the cheek plates apart and sheared off the tiny captive pin that holds the spring lock closed. Says they were using 22mm rope (more than it's rated for) so the sling/strop might have been too big as well. Crazy...
Looks like it has been around the block a few times as well.
Using a larger rope than it was designed to handle is asking for an accident to happen. Don't think I would want to work with that crew.

I’d like to see what they were flopping into that.

That block, sir, is pining for the fjords...
Mr. Praline: 'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This block parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn'tnailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-BLOCK PARROT

Logs. I use it to rig down fat logs near things we can't smash. With a 3/4" rope we make relatively quick work out of relatively large trees. We get a lot of sun and the trees get big with a quickness. I just removed a 100' ponderosa that the lady says was knee high when she moved there 50 years ago.

I mean, even taking the inevitable embellishment into consideration, that’s rather impressive.

Her whole property is full of eerily thin, but tall trees. It had been logged, and there were many good trees left, including the most enormous black oaks, also towering near the 100' mark, and with a fantastic 50' spread after the first 60 limbless feet, but with a lot of tall skinny pines and Doug fir that have tight little rings until the last ten years when they finally got up to the light in the summer. 100' to the tip top, but only 22" on the stump. It's also a great hill with ideal conditions.

I’m going to have to try 1 of these idc blocks after I retire my Omni 4.6 I have even used it but a few times. I used my rigging rings more often.
