North American Tree Climbing Championship

I sent an email to the chair, Brian Maxson, to see if I could get a couple questions answered. I'm still so confused. I'm TUFC champ, does that mean I have a berth guaranteed? Or does that only get me a berth in Southern not NATCC? I just wanna climb!?! Can I do both comps? Anyone who knows me, knows I ask every question no matter how ridiculous.

Thats right.

You'd better be on time for gear check this time, BJ. Otherwise we'll have to ritually cane you in front of all the other climbers as an example.

You're able to climb there as the TN representative of the Southern Chapter. If you're the best Southern climber you go to ITCC. As I am to understand it, you're not really climbing in the North American comp. The intent is to send more climbers to ITCC. Not to have one person win two titles (i.e. Southern Chapter champ and North American champ).

a hundred climbers at 100 dollars a piece this comp is going to make some money! thats $10000.00 good hopefully the southern chapter will keep the profits and we will have a budget to work off of.

Hmmm. Its $100 for entry into the NA TCC isn't it? Wouldn't that TCC keep that money?

Obviously there are some significant problems with trying to do too much by cramming these comps together.

I WILL BE EARLY!!! Lol. I figure I shake things up enough that maybe this year I can keep my mouth shut and abide by the rules, instead of trying to find ways to bend them.

Although if you keep threatening me with a good time, I might just volunteer!

This is my reply from Brian.

The short of it is registration opens Nov,22. Make sure your registration is in the Southern Chapter and you should be good. I will make sure we save a spot for you since you won the TN comp. Fax it to Southern Chapter.

The long answer is this. We are saving at least 20 spots for Southern Chapter climbers and we have given Individual Chapters a chance to register 1 climber, with the goal of having a broad representation throughout North America. We have a maximum of 60-70 climbers, the goal is once chapter registration closes and we have 20 Southern Chapter climbers, the remaining spots are a first come first serve basis.

Yes that's exactly what I meant. Why don't you shut up and go read about Compost TEE or something. Sorry I haven't been pouring over my TreeBuzz posts for grammatical errors. Give somebody a Master's and they think they know how to spell simple four letter words.... Sheeeesh.

WHAT??
Is this thing legit?
Southern Chapters 20 climbers, other Chapters 1 climber?
Sounds very suspect.

They have combined the North American and the Southern Chapter Championships. Thats why there are more from Southern. My understanding is that it isn't one TCC, but more like two run parallel. I think they're saying two climbers per chapter: one male and one female. After the sign up deadline they opened registration to all climbers. Kentucky has two men that I'm sure of: Rick and Jesse. Several Limbwalkers are going to work.

Kris Frederickson and myself will be representing Minnesota. Flights and hotel are booked. Arriving Savannah on Thurs. Feb 17th in the afternoon. This is gonna be fun! Should be much warmer in GA... 5ºF in MN at the moment.
