News from Austraila

Graeme,

Thank you so much for sharing this truely awesome job with us. Most climbers I know would never get a chance to do such a job, so it is a true delight to see parts of it on video and film.

Graeme, I downloaded one of the mpeg files off you site and have a problem playing it. Well, I can't play it at all. It came as a .exe dos file. Any clue as to what I need to do? The first mpeg I recieved from you came as a .zip file and I got it just fine. Played well, I passed it on to a few viewers on the buzz and they reprot having received it well also.

curious. Jerry B

Hi, Graeme;

I'm so impressed by the size of the trees you're doing I'm almost speechless. Very impressive. I'd like to see your rigging for these trees.

Jerry: Would you send me that mpeg you offered the other guys?

Thanks

Joe

Nathen and Gerry,
sorry about the confusion, the mpeg files are zipped up but with a self extractor, which if you are running windows or dos, it will automatically extract the files when you open.
if you are running mac or linux, then you will need the plain zip file.

Angus, I thought so, yet I've tried to open the files every way I know possible. An "Error" dialog box opens instead and indicates "Not a valid Win 32 file"

I'll try the regular .zip version anytime. Thank you

I don`t know!

When I tried to open them I had to save them first.
I was able to unzip them in winzip and open them in real-1 player.
After a few failed attempts trying to get them to play I reopened them in winzip and a window appeared that allowed winzip to overwrite them for viewing and then I could open them and view them in real 1 player.
I haven`t been able to open the bang.exe as of yet but I`m still trying.

Grahame
So If I understand right:
First U Climbed up,rigged the limbs with ropes and explosives.
Climbed down ,exploded the limbs.
Then climbed back up and lowered the rigged limbs( after seeing it move with the blasts).
Then moveded down and Topped it out at about 80 feet?
If this is correct how is it possible that anyone could pay U enough money to do it!!!
Oh! ...and to this add the bees.....
I take my hat of to you mate!

Kevin,
I have uploaded the plain MPG movies on the website (they're also a lot smaller :) ) so you shouldn't have any more difficulty opening them, although you will still have to download them from the site first.

Rob,
I was much happier on the ground pressing the button than being up the tree with the action. Mind you Gerry picked it we were all pleased when the head came off as it was told. Another great moment in sport :)

Got some pics back from the camera man, and they may help fill some gaps.
Big setup at 140ft, note double padding for rope protection. Explosives are the white sausages around the limb, dissapearing under padding.

Standing on one foot and using the other spur to lever the melted rope away from the wood. This was repeated for every 4 - 8ft of lowering.
Maybe a bit heavy! : )
