A customer that's 0.5 mile from my house/ shop had a cougar on her cam.
Bear sightings near us happen, too.
Sometimes, cougars are on homeowners' decks in the local vicinity.

When I first moved onto my land, We heard the cougars really loudly during mating season. I thought they must be suuuuper loud for us to hear them so clearly. Whrn I looked up how far away you can hear them, I read that as clearly as I heard them, they were probably about 200' from the tent we were sleeping in. They really don't worry about muvh at night
