New articulating loader from top notch

Ha, excellent commercial. I bet everyone with an extra Ferrari or two in the garage reaches for their wallet right after watching that vid. Well, I would anyway.

I would guess it would have to have a base price of $100,000.

I agree on that pending if there was a dealer on this side of the pond. 115 hp John Deere with multiple pumps. Maybe less considering how strong the dollar is against the euro. Shipping it may make it cheaper if bought over there.

I would guess easily double that with no attachments, considering a base version of an avant 420 is 30k

Now you've got me wondering. I could see more than 100K, there was a lot of electronics in that cab. And then it had a stout looking remote. But up to 200K? If anyone ever hears let us know.

Check in with Carl on Avant prices. Think he can get you numbers lower than you were thinking SuperJ.

I certainly will, I haven't ruled out the avant yet. Everything I've been seeing on the 420 online (equipment trader, local dealer, ect..) looks to be 30k. Maybe Carl can get that number down for me

The BME Giants are officially available! I'll be posting videos starting tomorrow, playing with this piece of concrete at the shop the first day.

Feel free to submit your guess on the weight, notice the boom is nearly fully extended! Also let me know what you're wanting to see in the videos!

excellent!
Here are two things I would want to see. 1. With the bucket on, how well does it push into a full pile of wood chips. 2. How well does it maneuver through a wooded environment.
Also, what are the costs on these things.

My guess for the concrete weight is 1100 pounds.

1: Hmm, I don't have a bucket for it yet, but I am planning to test the tractive effort of this machine and others to offer some useful comparisons. What size bucket are you thinking?

This bucket would be a bit oversized I think! It was made for a Boxer 532, held right around a yard of material.

2: Describe the wooded environment a bit more please sir so I'll know the setting/setup/job you're thinking about.

The 254 (standard boom) starts at $31,999. The 254T (telescoping boom) starts at $35,999.

Not a bad guess!

Fun to see this thread is about to explode. I was at Arbfest West this weekend and spent a little time on a new mini skid. (First time for me.)

I'm sure mini skids have there place and I'm sure I could get used to using one but, I was struck by how difficult it was for me to run it as compared to the first day I got on my Avant 528 and loaded out three big pine trees and it felt natural right off the bat.

The standard boom is for the folks that don't need/want the tele boom for whatever reason.

Between the two, I would personally get the tele, even though I don't need the lift height (grapple truck). Being able to reach out nearly 2' farther and pick or drag something to you is very handy. It also comes in handy feeding a chipper or reaching over a fence/wall/flower bed, etc.

You have the added cost of the boom and the plumbing down the boom as well as the extra functions on the joystick (the extend and retract as well as the auxiliary functions and the FNR switch is on the joystick) and the extra valve and solenoid to run it. Both the auxiliary and boom extension are on the joystick as well as having manually operated valves behind the joystick for each function.

We have had our Giant for about 2 months or so. It is great. Blows the doors off the minis speed wise, lifts more, articulates, lifts higher, oscillates, and the ability to see behind you is great, but we knew all this before purchasing. The wheel motors we have heard lose only 5% power after 5000 hours. Should be a long lasting machine.
