New articulating loader from top notch

The goal/target/objective/whole point of the little machines is to be able to to haul them sideways with the BMG attached... so with that, I would say 102" or less. There is a counterweight option that we were going to make standard, but it increased the length by too much (3-4" additional length).

The Giant has the equivalent function in the Giant as well as comparable system to the Avant's anti slip valve (a ~$2k option on the 500 series). The BME will come standard with a light.

I can sell and support your Giant... I have several customers in Ohio that should attest to that. Selling to people outside of my local area is literally what I do. southsoundtree/Sean (post 13 in this thread) bought a Boxer mini skid from me in 2014, he lives in Washington State. He had a known issue come up outside of the warranty period, but I took care of him without the machine leaving his local area and with a minimal down time.
True Story!

That's what I'm doing as well, on a trailer behind the grapple truck... an articulated loader sideways on front of the trailer, 70' Nifty Lift behind that.

I want the 332 x-tra on 15.5" wide tires for it's higher lifting capacity at the compromise of lift height. (81" vs 101" lift height on the X-tra vs the Standard).

Not sure what happened to my post before this pic, and not to stray too far off topic here but was wondering if this pic is from a 420? Can't find any literature about outer attaching wheels for the avants.

I'm picking up an 18 ft equipment trailer right now, just waiting on the guy to get here. Be an avant or giant, I'll be ready to tow a loader, grinder and attachments on one trailer

It's not a factory option... And the Avants can't fit through a 36" gate even if you took the tires off.

If you're wanting floatation, you could put 12.5" wide tires on an Avant. With the Giant you can have duals or up to 13" wide on the 254s. 15.5" wide on the 332s.

I'm really torn here. I was sold on the Avant 420. I picked up a nice trailer yesterday. The plan was to purchase the 420 mid march ish, play around with it for a couple weeks and be ready to work beginning of april. Now in light of the giant, not sure what I'm going to do.

It definitely sounds like a better machine for residential tree work. On the other hand.. it cost more. How much more? Ballpark? It's brand new, the bugs haven't been worked out yet, I hate buying a first year released anything.. The back of it looks vulnerable, I wonder how long it will be till accessories are available? When would the machine itself even be available? Ugg...

A fair bit of miss applied or wrong information... Let me try to straighten it out.

...How much more? Ballpark?...

Allegedly we're going to hear final pricing Monday. Our goal is for our price to be between an Avant 520 and 528.

...It's brand new, the bugs haven't been worked out yet, I hate buying a first year released anything...

This is not a new product! The 254T has been sold in Europe for years. The mini skid universal plate is a new option, flat face couplers are a new option, US electrical end on the block heater is a new option, and the way we're having the auxillary hydraulics controlled in the joystick is a new option although not dissimilar to an existing option, just utilized differently. We are not changing any of the core systems of the standard machine, nor are we implementing unproven technology. For example, on the mini skid attachment plate we flew with a female plate in our luggage so they could take dimensions directly for the male plate.

...When would the machine itself even be available? Ugg...

The first BME units should be stateside around the end of Feburary with more a 2-3 weeks later. I don't know what machines are still available, 3 of the 254Ts are spoken for plus whatever Dave has sold plus a demo unit for him. The big reason we're wanting pricing from Giant is so we can get several containers ordered on a delivery schedule. Not counting yourself I have at least 3 other people interested in one of the first BME 254Ts. We're forecasting needing 10 machines a month going into summer. Remember this thread and the one at TH are the only two sources of information online for the BME Giants. Once I get them in to shoot videos they'll hit Facebook, YouTube and other sites and the flood gates will open regarding interested customers.

Now on to new information:

... The back of it looks vulnerable, I wonder how long it will be till accessories are available

You're the first I've heard saying the Giants don't look robust... Feedback is great! If the market wants a rear bumper will accommodate!

The body of the 254 is all steel... The body of the Avany is entirely plastic save the mesh over the radiator. Also, sitting on the back section of the Giant will reduce operator error. We've sold Gehl wheel loaders with fiberglass hoods on the back for 5 years... No rear bumper accessory for them as it's not needed. A bumper for the Giant wouldn't be hard to buid, but building one is rarely worth it from a price point perspective. Depending on the design, 5-10 would be the minimum number we would build. To put that it in context, universal BMGs are now ordered 100 at a time (~$270k street value... I feel Narcoish saying that. 8)).

Also, the Avant bumper you originally called about is still $800 plus shipping.

I was on the fence for a long time over an Avant 528. I've had one issue with it blowing a fuse when you hit the horn button. Other than that, I could not be happier with it. 200 hours so far.

I have list pricing, but not final pricing... yet! I'm staying after it trying to get concrete answers, as soon as I know I'll certainly post it up.

Dave is going back to the factory next week to hammer out some details and work on volume pricing from the factory.
