Mitt Romney

As neither a republican or democrat or an American, I would like to tell you how Romney looks from this side of the atlantic. My politics lie somewhere in the centre so this is not some lobbying BS from Obama's camp. Incidently I think Obama can look weak at times.

Anyway....Romney

he doesn't look like the next president of the USA.

sorry if this is bad news to some people but unlike Obama, Clinton or even George W Bush, Romney looks ill at ease with his predicament. He simply does not know how to connect with normal people and he needs these normal people (swing voters) to win the election.

I've no doubt he has his convictions and believes in certain things which are close to his heart, but I suspect even his closest allies and aides know the race for the whitehouse is well and truly over. You can see it in Romney's face, next time he is on TV, look closely at his eyes, they are the eyes of a man who is lost, he has no idea what he stands for other than low taxes for the rich.

everything i heard mitt say on that vid sounds right to me . obama its time to get out . you cant fix stupid but you can vote it out of office !!!!!!!!!!
grin.gif

Mitts there to lay down for the "TEAM".. Obama has done far too good of a job, in service to the ruling elite that put him in power. He's seamlessly continued their polices and forwarded their plans.. Obama and Bush have the same masters.. One f's you with a snicker and the other with a smile..

To me, there's a sweet irony in Jimmy Carter's grandson playing such an instrumental role in torpedoeing Romney's election boat to the bottom of the deep blue sea.

Shoulda sent that vid on an SD card stuck in a jar of Georgia's best peanut butter!

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman..

Pinocchio, Snow White, and Superman are out for a stroll in town one Day.

As they walk, they come across a sign:

"Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world."

"I am entering" said Snow White.

After half an hour she comes out and they ask her,

"Well, how'd ya do?

" First Place ," said Snow White..

They continue walking and they see a sign:

"Contest for the strongest man in the world."

"I'm entering," says Superman.

After half an hour he returns and they ask him, "How did you make out?"

" First Place ," answers Superman. "Did you ever doubt?"

They continue walking when they see a sign:

"Contest! Who is the greatest liar in the world?"

Pinocchio says "this is mine"

Half an hour later, he returns with tears in his eyes.

"What happened?" they asked.

"Who the hell is Obama?" asked Pinocchio

Has anyone thought about Romney's religion?

Is it not worrying to consider some part of his intellect is informed by what is clearly one of the most ridiculous religious cults ever created by man?

Has anyone here actually looked into Mormonism? even a brief introduction to it would leave any reasonable person completely and utterly dumbfounded by the insanity of it all.

And some of you would actually prefer this man to be your president to Obama? surely not?

I was raised in a large Mormon family, and yes, they are quite crazy in their beliefs. Which is why none of us have anything to do with the LDS church today.

You see, archaeological science has proven certain aspects of the old and new testaments historically, people, places, instruments of war etc.

Apply those same archaeological criteria and measures to the BoM and Smith's whole story crumbles into pixie dust.

Science proves there was no steel, horses, wheels, silk, etc in the Americas as described in the BoM, prior to Columbus crossing the Atlantic and bringing those items with him.

The Smithsonian Institute has published a statement on the BoM, that no Mormon can read and remain devout to their church.

I wouldn't care about romney's religion if he kept it where it belongs (Mormon=Christian=Sikh=Hindu as far as I'm concerned) but his party is determined to insert gods into our government (and the dems are not much better in that regard), which I have a huge problem with. Despite the strident claims of Christians who feel their place of privilege slipping away, this is not a Christian nation. The founders explicitly, deliberately created a secular government so that every American, even those with minority beliefs, could feel part of our nation while still worshipping (or not) as they please.

Given the disaster Obama inherited, I am impressed with what he accomplished. I can understand that some of you disagree with his policies, but I cannot understand calling him stupid. If we truly had a two-party system, he'd get my vote. Fortunately, I have another choice that better reflects my philosophy. I will vote for Dr. Jill Stein.

BABBS im not gonna debate this w you bro cause itll be like pissing in the wind!! But ost of what you said is complete horse crap and EASILY refuted....!!!
What they did Was form a government with no state sponsor of religion IE "The Church of ENgland" However THE GOD of Abraham...did inform their decisions etc!!!!
What the HELL does "endowed by their creator" Mean???
Some freaking alien? " place of privledge" ?? really? slipping away...? Believers believe bro!!! We know we get persecuted for the cause of Christ...But we also Know how the story ends... K N O W..... sort of like you KNOW popcorn when you smell it!! just how it is.
Now make sure ya go and get all intolerant and nasty on me !!!! 3 2 1....go

Whatever they assumed, they very clearly wrote into the constitution that government should not endorse any religion. That's the brilliance of this country. The document was flexible enough to apply to modern times they never could have imagined.

I know KNOW some Christians feel persecuted when their privileged position is threatened, but they are wrong. Every few days, I hear about people in other countries going to jail because they believe a certain religion (or none). In this country, nobody goes to jail for their beliefs. But times have changed. We once had a legal right to own slaves. We once denied women the right to vote. We once forbade inter-racial marriage. But our framers created avenues to correct all these mistakes as society changed.

It probably was once true that, in any given place, the city council could open meetings with a Christian prayer and nobody in the audience would blink because they agreed. That is not true now. The audience is likely to have nonbelievers as well as Muslims, Hindus, or any number of other faiths. They have just as much right to participate in government as anyone. When the government says, "it's fine to believe what you want, just keep your mouth shut while we say this prayer to 'our' god", that alienates them and offends them. They have every right to protest.

If anyone ever sees you praying to yourself or with your friends and comes up and threatens you for it, give me a call, and I'll stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you to tell them they are wrong. But do not pretend you are being persecuted when all non-Christians want is an equal place at the table. You are free to practice your religion. You simply cannot do it from a bully pulpit that implies those who disagree with you do not belong.

Dont you think the founding fathers quietly assumed to themselves that christianity or at the very least a 'christian ethos' was the default setting for the United States of America?

[/ QUOTE ]T

There's no doubt Patrick Henry and others wanted Christianity, and Jesus specifically, written into our founding documents. However there's also no doubt that Jefferson and Madison won the battle to prevent that very outcome.

From my link.

When Jefferson's bill came up again in 1786, it passed by a vote of 60 to 27. In an attempt to give some kind of official recognition to Christianity, some assemblymen tried to insert an acknowledgment of “Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion.” Jefferson took pleasure in the fact that “the insertion was rejected by a great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and the Mahometan, the Hindoo, the infidel of every denomination.”

With their religious convictions and civil duties kept in separate realms, good citizens may believe whatever they wish to,  as long as they do not violate the peace. In later years, Jefferson would write [in his Notes on the State of Virginia] that "the legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injuries to others.  But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say There are twenty gods, or no God.  It neither breaks my leg, nor picks my pocket."
