Last photo, from the southern edge of the crown. This tree had a DBH of ~65"...Height of 77'... widest spread ~97'. This is what we measured anyway. The official results are available on the MN DNR website (i think).
Very fun climb. Even did a bit of footlocking at the end to torture ourselves (and prep for the competition).
This summer we're going to try and find the National Champ white spruce (Picea glauca), 130' tall!
Well, MNTCC '09 is over. Congratulations Eric! However, the recreational climbing continues... I am always up for a climb (unless I'm down for a climb). How about this Memorial weekend? Anyone want to go climbing? Should be nice weather.
