Mini skids?

[ QUOTE ]
Hey Noel ,

Does the vermeer grapple rotate?

[/ QUOTE ]

yes, it rotates manually to 5 positions from parallel to perpendicular, and 2 45 degree angles between. if you have your log balanced well, you can move between positions while loaded.

Always use a big machine if you can fit it in,

But you can't get an ASV on the back of a chipper.

Noel,
From what I have seen that vermeer grapple is well built, I wonder how well it feeds a chipper with the ridgid pivot for a knuckle. What does it weigh? my BMG is 200#s

With fuel going up maybe Chipper manufacturers will start taking notice of the innovators - Mike Poors mini carrier

no idea what it weighs, I'm sure not more than 200 lb. I can pick the thing up. I don't use it for loading chipper that often but it works ok in my experience. I found a pic of it in action here.

Like ive said in other threads, I too have a vermeer. Its AWESOME! I used a bobcat while helping a friend and saw a dingo in use. both were walk behinds and although they got the job done, were a little slow. The ground speed of a vermeer is 4.5mph.

We had a wind storm here back in June and my mini out worked a full size bobcat in time probably 2-1. Sure that guy could pic a bigger peice, but with the manueverability of mine, it was much quicker. And that i could turn around to see what was behind me and coming up on me, it was much safer.

As for putting wood ina truck, ive put some into the back of my chip truck. Its usually the rounds of a trunk. Ill put in two side x side, one on top of each, then push them forward. put in the next and push the first ones in w/ the second. I dont do this very often as I do have a 1-ton w/ a flatbed that dumps. This is what I usually put the wood on.

Ive used my grapple to put wood in my chipper. I dont have a bmg.

I carry both my mini and a sc-252 on a 14' trailer behind the flatbed.

Yep! The Boxer is a bit slow. But, the thing has balls! I'm impressed with how fast the hydraulics run. The controls seem to be explosive if you want them to be. I guess that can be a positive and negative point...But, I will say this. I think the Boxer controls are not as easy to learn and master than a Toro Dingo.

Oh well, I wanted a compact machine (to get me into a backyard) to lift heavy wood. And I got one. I'm stoked!

Yeah congrats man, i think that is the way to go. Save your back, your employee(s) will love you for it. You'll love yourself for it.

speed is not an issue when moving something heavy.....Learning curve is steep so don't catapult yourself. Enjoy.....no more humping wood and brush, you get the BMG grapple on it?

Here's a pic from today to tease the miniskid-less. Bet your bottoms your not lifting those chunks into the truck.

I wish we had one of these than a bobcat. It just tears the lawn up way too much half the time to use it. This thing would be used almost every removal. Lucky SoBs

Man, I really want one now. Normally that would be loaded onto a two wheel cart, and up the trailer ramps by me and two other guys. Really, really sucks.
