Make me look good! (Solved)

Client has 2 trees that I can't ID.
North Texas area ( Flower Mound )

From Client:

-The trees have tiny (~BB size), cone-shaped fruiting bodies about this time of year (you can see dark clusters of them at the base of some of the Simmons Road leaves). These used to drop down on us and were a bit sticky. I'm fairly certain they turned into tiny yellow or white flowers.

-The bark in some places appears reddish-tan underneath the blocky part and splits into fissures. Not sure if this is diagnostic of the tree or if it is an indicator of its poor health.

-The leaves are simple alternate and do not have serrated/toothed edges (helps to rule out Elm species).

Any help would be great!

The fruiting things make me wonder about Persimmon...but that is certainly what the leaves look like. It isn't Sourwood is it? Either would have little flowers (yellow and white)...

Right on ! Funny thing, I was having my morning coffee before checking any responses to my posted question and Persimmon randomly popped into my mind. I checked around and was pleasantly surprised that I was right, and then you boys confirmed my research! Thanks for the feedback!:bailando:
