Kristain is hurt, send him love and encouragement

Re: Kristain is hurt, send him love and encouragem

I've been so busy and into my own thing lately that I'm just now checking in. So sad to hear of your injury, Kristian. Positive vibes for a speedy and complete recovery. Had a fall myself 13 years ago--termination knot came undone...stil have a pin in my ankle from the 25-35 foot fall.

I must echo all your friends' comments about you. We only met briefly last summer in Hawaii. I was shooting the ITCC and you were helping/judging. Then, at Leon's rec climb at the arboretum, I helped you get a line set. Your energy and enthusiasm , and excitement at climbing that incredible albizzia was unreal. And, of course, your 100 plus foot footlock in that humid drizzle was awesome.

Hope this lousy quality pic of you high in the canopy--helping others make their way to join you, and this inspiring rainbow that graced us will help you keep your spirits up.

ONCE YOU MEET HIM YOU'LL NEVER FORGET HIM. I MET HIM AT MICHIGAN 07. HIS POSITIVE FIRE LIFTS EVERYONE UP AND MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE. KRISTAIN, MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY.

It is Wed. the 13th, Kristian is back at the hospital for the surgery on his heel. They are doing it outpatient,so he will be back home later tonite, although probably in no mood to chat much. After this, it will just be the healing and recovery process, no more surgeries are planned. He has been inundated with calls and letters (which Meg calls "fan mail",) how fortunate he is to have such a big family of supporters. I'll check back in later, just wanted to give an update.

Re: KMS

Hoping things are going well, and the healing has begun. I'm not sure if the accident should be disscussed at this point but if it helps avoid it happeneing to someone else I'll remind what sounds like a very experienced climber of an old trick. Maybe he tried it, pretty basic. Send a biner up the throwline midline with a girth hitch and pull it back and forth over the branch and it will often work its way down to the branch attachment. We try and be perfect but some days we are distracted and things happen.
