Kristain is hurt, send him love and encouragement

Re: KMS

I just got off the phone with K. He's going in to have the vertebrae fused in a little while.

On Weds. I got a text from K that read, "Used too small TIP...it broke. I fell"

And that's all!!!

I figured that was bad but good news. If he had the ability to text after a fall it had to be good news. Whew...not great news though.

Kristian,

You'll be rip roaring around real soon! Your PMA...positive mental attitude is infectious...take some of your own medicine!

Re: KMS

Kristian, Fred and I and the boys are thinking of you constantly. Hang in there. Oliver is trying to find the silver lining in your accident. He wanted to know that the tree was small, or that you didn't really fall very hard.I know this has to be hard for Meg too so give her a hug for me if possible. Maybe a pat on the hand would be easier. We're thinking of you and the rest of A&A,

Ann

Re: KMS

Get well quick, Kristian!

I'll be double checking my TIP's after reading your story. With your positive outlook and enthusiasm, I know you'll be back soon. Good luck.

Chris

Re: KMS

Kristian, I'm so sorry to hear the news. If there was ever a person that didn't deserve this, I'd say it's you 100%. Anyways, hope the healing process goes smooth...take your time, but "HURRY UP!!"

Get well soon Brotha,
you'll be in my prayers

Micah

Re: KMS

Long as we're posting pictures, this is Kristian right after he offered to get me some safety glasses because I hadn't put mine on.

Definitely one of the brightest, safest climbers I've ever met.

Re: KMS

It is 6:30 now, KMS got out of back surgery about an hour ago, and is in the recovery room. I am heading out the door to go wait and see how it all went. I have been copying pages from here to bring to him and let him know how many people are vibing for him. All your comments are really appreciated.

Re: KMS

Kristian -

Very sorry to hear about the fall. Meeting you in Minnesota at the 2006 ITCC and finding out you were in Michigan (where I was headed) was encouraging to me - you have an incredible energy and power for righteous living - and it rubs off on anyone who meets/gets to know you. You have been added to our daily prayers for a swift healing and speedy recovery!

peace,

Matthew

You barely know me (just a few words in MN and OH) but I want to wish you a speedy recovery. As encouragement I will say that I didn't even start climbing until after I had back surgery. You will do great. You are an inspriation to climbers and spectators alike. In other words, just about everyone you meet.

OK, its 10:42 pm on Sat. KMS had surgery yesterday afternoon, when they fused L1, L2, and L3 vertebrae in his back. Last night was a very hard night for him, hopefully the worst he will have to deal with. He really struggled with the pain and inability to get comfortable, finally the drugs took hold and he was able to settle down. Meg was doing her best to keep him calm, but was exhausted so Myria (my wife) and I sat with them overnight. Today when I went back to check in, he was in MUCH better spirit. they had put a back brace on him and actually made him stand up and move around a bit. It was exhausting, but Meg said he had that determined look in his eyes again. I am still sure in my mind that he will make a full recovery, especially after I hear some of the other stories about our other tree brothers that have been through this or worse, and are still climbing at full capacity.

Thanks again for the support, Kristian is in good hands here I promise. I'll try to report again tomorrow, I'm going to ZZZZZZZZZZ..........
