Kolibbri Multislide Harness

Steve Connally

Been here much more than a while
I tried my new saddle yesterday. I like it but it will sure takle a little getting ised to after several years of climbing on my buckingham. I also have nnever used a bridge before. I feel as if my center of gravity has shifted a little from being attached on the waist attachments. I also climb using Rich H's system. My question is how to set up my attachment points. The attachment on the waist belt are slightly uncomfortable. I would like to attach on the bridge but there is only 1 sliding D. I could add another but I would have to unstitch the Bridge strap and I realy dont want to do that. I also don't realy want to add a bunch more beaners to my system or bend, pinch or twist the bridge which is made of webbing. There aren't many options I can figure out for attachments. I was hoping to do something with the bridge because I also often footlock the tail as well. Take a look at the pic and let me know if you have any ideas. Comfortable saddle but in my opinion ot lacks attachment points and has no stitched accessory clips.

whats the problem regarding the bridge and footlocking the tail? i have a tree magic which has a similar width webbing bride, i footlock the tail without a problem.
i think the rope bridges are probably better than the webbing bridges, might be worth going that option. ive had a play in that harness before, very comfy.

when I use Rich H's climbing system I usually use 2 attachment points. I've always used 2. When you guys climb with these bridges on your saddles, if you're climbing DRT do you tie in both ends to your single D. I DRT using a friction hitch (VT) and a tending pulley. I cant see how having both ends of my line on the single D would be a good set up.

Steve,

The Anchor Bridge will work with both pieces girthed onto one attachment point, however, it is a little more messy than with two attachment points. I absolutely agree with you regarding the Kolibri harness in that it is unbelievably comfortable, but I also prefer two attachment points and even better the ability to modify to taste.

basically, Its a way to get the same effect as at AB(anchor Bridge) system with one part as opposed to two. I guess its not the best pic but I was trying to show that with the cmi(mickey mouse) pulley and one leg(of the AB system) girthed to the sliding d along with a biner, when extended, you get the same effect. Hope that clears it up a bit in response to your two attachment point query.

Steve,

That single bridge version works great with the lock jack sport as well as the mickey mouse and hitch climber pulleys. The one issue I would mention if you plan to switch to that set up is that your hitch knot will be extremely close to your anchor section of rope which may cause your fingers to get pinched as well as affect the function of the hitch. That aside many people prefer Rogers type of set up to the double leg version.

ps Very nice sweatshirt Roger. Congrats to you and Limbwalker.

now if you put in one of those pulleys with three atachment holes. That european pulley that they keep on teasing us with. You could leave a biner on your harness and then clip up without having to buck in. same to release. Get me? In my head it works.

Hmm. I think the Kolibri will be my next harness. I dont suit these ultralight harnesses to well, being a long time Buckingham user.

I don't care for the micro mouse pulley myself. I use one leg of the Anchor Bridge on my Butterfly in a similar configuration as whats in Roger's picture. I set it up a little different though. The Anchor Bridge just goes between the orange biner and the aluminum ring. (See attatchment)

It works great.

ive been using a vt knot and a groundguy tending rope whenever ascent is needed, i use a petzl hand ascender, the vt knot and slack tending pully and my hand ascender but the ascender is not connected to me at all, i just pull to gain slack in my knot and the ground man holds the rope and the knot tends itself, whenever i reach i good point in the tree i unclick the ascender and fasten it to my belt and run around snatchin up dead then when ascension is needed i will have the ground guy hold the line, the vt knot has saved me hours of time in trees and pushed us on to at least 3 extra jobs and ive only been using it for 2 solid days, but i dont foot lock at all (which i probably should)

6kN is about 1,350 pounds...you aren't serious are you? :)

Saddle mods puts you in a world by yourself. Be careful and make sure the components are going to work.

If you could find one of those d-rings with the removable bar in a 5k# it seems like a possible solution.
