That's good to know, for sure, but I'm still on a hitch. Guess it comes down to being stuck on a product I like and not seeing anything out there that gives quite the same feel. However, I'm totally down with using it for only srt and getting a more appropriate construction for ddrt.

Lol! Hopefully you’re only moving rope for crane work! Get some DrenaLine, it will change your opinion on HTP.

And no, I enjoy ddrt for more than crane work. I started out almost exclusively srt, and ddrt has been fun to explore and incorporate. Now it's something I look forward to.

Oooh, Bartlett still has it? Dang, Reed, my wife is already on me for wanting to spend more money on tree gear since stepping out of full time production.

I noticed your specific term "temporary" ddrt. Is there a construction issue that should deter me from using a parallel core rope for ddrt other than reduced dynamics?
Giving Reedy a hard time was my main goal with that post, but all my comments hold true. I do like a splice on both ends of my rope whenever possible.

I used the term “temporary” in reference to DdRT only because Reed asked why anyone would want a splice on a SRT line. Some folks (me included) will config into DdRT for a specific reason (usually easy advancement of a TIP) and then switch back to SRT for the remainder of the climb.

As far as anything deterring you from any particular parallel core in DdRT, I’d start with manufacturers recommendations for that particular rope . :)

I don’t think the Slaice is possible in a core dependent rope...

It would be cool for manufacturer info to include cover/core percentages (ratios) of overall breaking strength. It would help in many ways. I want to connect with the Teufelberger rep and see about this on various lines.

Typically, kernmantle lines are core dependent, but much has changed. I hold in my hand a Slaice on a hank+ of drenaLINE. I confirmed it’s traditional kernmantle construction by milking a 1/2” out of the tail. I’m curious what the cover/core ratio is on this line vs. KMIII.

Weird, I would have assumed a braided core in DrenaLine...

I love when Eric gives me a “hard” time [emoji7]
