Kask Peltor Ear Muffs - BIG PROBLEM

I have a big problem with my Peltor ear muffs that go on my KASK helmet. The darn things keep popping off when I move them around on my helmet. I love my KASK helmet.

Anybody else having this problem? Others who use Peltor helmets and muffs say this happens to them too.

What can be done to fix it? I was thinking about trying to drill some small holes in the earmuffs brackets and putting some small srews in them, not anything that would go through the helmet though.

What kind of muffs do you have Tom?

Mine are the Peltor Deluxe ones, which seem to be larger than the normal size ones, which means that I have to pull them farther away from the sides of the helmet.

I have the metal adapter that has two screws that go into the helmet. Those are fine. Its the plastic earmuffs that have the slot-in style that keep popping out.

I'll have to take a look at the Peltor 3A attachment.

In the UK and Europe we only sell and use the Peltor Ear defenders with the screw on fitting as mentioned previously. This style of defender uses two screws which fit the defenders directly to the helmet. We have NO problems with this style of fitting when used on the Kask / Stein Helmets.

We also use the euro slot adaptor extensivley but only when selling the helmets with the MSA Sordin defenders. These defenders are more suited to the euro-slot adaptor as they have more of an angle on the insert which leans the defenders backwards on to the helment making it more of a pressure fit.

Yes, i agree with SteinUK.

You really want the 3A Peltors mounted direct.

It is what the helmet was designed for.

Avoiding using them to use an adaptor instead is just a cheap way to utilize your existing Peltors with the familiar slot-in attachment.

It is worth upgrading to the screw in type.

In the long run they are better. Slot in ones wear over time and start to fall out anyway.

Not that i should condone it, but if you are stuck or can't get 3A easily in the US there is a pretty easy mod to the inside of the muff attachment plate that will get you around it too.

Chris

I will speak with the guys at Superior and see if this is a known issue. Sorry youre having probelms. If you want to send the muffs, and/or helmet back I will refund or replace for you.

When I got mine they sent the wrong peltors with the incorrect mount. Used and older muff where the plastic tab was thicker. ill bet you have the wrong muff

We are only shipping the muffs that Superior/Kask are offering.

Thanks Bull, I appreciate it. I love the helmet and hope to fix the muffs with a slight modification.

Cool. I just looked at kaskhelmets.com

It seems like they are using the wrong earmuffs (P3E) with an adapter.

I would guess to use up existing stock of normal muffs.

This is a poor workaround.

They are designed for P3A and should be sold with/for them.

The adapters should really only be for those too tight to shell out for new muffs at the same time as a helmet.

And if that's the case, you get what you didn't pay for!

off topic but similar, the screws for my visor loosen during the day, so about lunch time or so i have a flopy visor. anybody else getting that?

I have attached for your information two pictures of the Peltor Fittings used with the Kask / Stein Helmet.
