judges

From what I heard it was smooth sailing.
Now I get the feeling something was swept under the rug.

Ask me if I care!

I can see how Im looking like the bad guy here. The original post should have been quoted in the replies, as it seems to be continually changing.

Whatever!!

I also think the competitions, including the MnTcc, are run well, and definitely everyone appreciates the hard work put in by the volunteers and everyone helping out. I posed some hypothetical questions, that may have been worded poorly. This forum I thought was meant to discuss competitions, but my questions were not relating to any specific competition. Judging, by its very nature, is subjective. This thread was meant to be discussed in a general manner. My wording probably was poor.

I've followed this thread with great interest. It is hard to be a judge for something like a work climb event where 'discretionary' points can be given. The reality is unless some one blatantly f's up a station all the scores would be the same without discretionary points.

If scoring were as cut and dry as most athletic events we wouldn't need judges, we'd call 'em referees or umpires....

The tree climbing comps are more like gymnastics or ice skating events, like it or not judges are needed.
