Someone please give me feedback on this saw, I can find nothing on its performance in the field and no one to back it up. About to get a new top handle cause I've abused me 192t to the point where shes rattling apart. I don't want to look past this saw because all nyone talks a lot are the 540 and 201.
Thanks in advance

Echo really did some nice improvements on the CS-355T tophandle saw. I don't have one, I have the smaller CS-271T, but I ran one through a log at my dealer's awhile back, and was very impressed. The price point is very nice, too. This one has more love than hate followers, and I recently made a deal with two saws with a friend that decreased my 35cc tophandle stable by two... I really think I'm going to grab one of these. I have a Snellerized MS-201T but I really would like to have a backup saw for that one.

I don't know how you feel about the Echo saws, but if you have a dealer nearby, you might want to take a look at that one. It's about 37cc and very ergonomic.

I still have four 338's, all with muffler mods, which gives them more torque than a 200/201 and as much and sometimes more cutting speed. Reliable as well. Lighter than the new 540..... As I have those four plus two 192T's, I haven't bothered to upgrade to the 540......

I've had the 2139t for a couple years, it's a good saw it gets the job done. It's cheaper than the 338xpt for a reason though, the air filter is just a soft piece of foam compared to the husky's solid filter unit. Its possible that a Husky filter would fit on my saw but I haven't tried it yet. Who knows what other parts are cheaper options.

The important parts of the saws are the same. Easy to change the filter systems. That said, the foam filter is as good or better than the mesh design. IN fact, I've had many 335/338's over the last 20 years, and they usually came with the foam design. It works fine as long as it is installed carefully... and actually filters better than the mesh. 2139T's are prettier, tho. Love the red and black...

More importantly, add a down facing 9/16th i.d. short tube port to the muffler, below the existing port. Make sure the peak rpm is still 13800...and enjoy 20-35% faster cutting and gobs more torque.
I might have an extra muffler......you can have it for $35 or so.

ended up going with a 540xp, thanks for all the input guys.
roger i remember reading somewhere you saying "192's are not a commercial saw" or something to that regard, and i believed you, but wasn't sure what you meant, as it was handling everything i did with it. but it seems that ripping it thru bar sized hardwoods have made it vibrate enough to where the pull cord case as well as all screws holding the muffler have all stripped out. things were getting pretty rough, she's just my backyard baby now.
how do i find more info on these muffler mods for the jonny red? i have a co worker who may be more interested in a modified one over other new top handles

thanks guys for your input.

Any pics of the muffler mod? The plastic muffler guard on my saw broke in a move, now my hand gets scorched on big cuts so I should really do something. Seems like a downward exit would redirect the hot gasses. Good info on the filters.
