ISA Arborist Certification test

Pork, When you've registered for the test, be sure to go online to the testing center right away to see what dates are available. If you're prepared and ready to test right now, but can't get a test date at your facility for a month, you may not be a happy camper, trying to stay at peak preparedness for that long.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually hoping to take the test on 12-12-12... But the date is not all that important. As I posted earlier- I just ordered "arboriculture", and look forward to some new learning material before the exam. I hope it gives me an extra little something... Even if its just confidence. Digging all of the support on treebuzz!

Some of those are close, some are off, some are way off. a useful exercise maybe but not a reliable indcator of the test itself.

Maybe better to view old ArbNews and practice on those tests.

That test seemed to relate to the study guide, but in a round about way. The drainage tiles were not discussed in my version of the study guide, etc...I would recommend using the most current version of the ISA Study Guide. Perhaps a bit of suggested reading to bolster your knowledge, though probably not crucial to achieving a "passing" score.

I had no idea that you could pass the CA exam with a 72% score.

No wonder there's no shortage of doofus CA's!

Pitiful.....

After reading "Arboriculture" by Harris and going through my flash cards a few times a week, I took the test today.
I was a little panicked at first (probably because this is the first test I have taken since high school!), and thought I was going to fail the test. After completing all the questions I went back through everything and made sure I was happy with my answers. The second time through, I realized I was just freaking out, and everything looked good. I finished with an hour and a half to spare, and walked out a certified arborist. I would like to thank everyone for their advice and opinions leading up to the test!

Way to go, man! Congrats! I waited six weeks to learn my results. It must have been great to know right the and there. Keep it going.

Just took the test this morning and passed. Being able to find out your score immediately was a big plus even if I didn't particularly like the environment of the testing center. Think I could have gotten away with just reading the study guide but I definitely don't regret the additional reading and studying I did. I'm glad I finally took the test as I think it is a good marketing tool but I don't feel like a better arborist than I was yesterday. Now I just have to find some way to get EHAP certified in this arboriculture dead zone that I live in.

Way to go Wyo! EHAP is touring all around, but I'm sorry to hear you're in a dead-zone. No better time for you to kick it up and give that zone some life! Congrats.

Congrats!

Are you a member and getting the ISA Arborist News? You can get CEUs from the knowledge you gain in bits and pieces through the publication (I believe, seems you used to be able to do so, at least). That will make you a better arborist. The training conferences will, too.

While the test doesn't make you a better arborist, which is not its purpose, people will be able see that you have a solid baseline of knowledge that the average tree guy does not.

Being the best arborist you can be is up to you.
