I'm the only one???

Re: I\'m the only one???

What equipment will you use? Will you hoist the logs/ bundles of brush from the low branches onto a high rigging spar, then lower them out, if they are too low to speedline from position?

Using a low stretch speedline?

GRCS? Porty?

DBH's?

Re: I\'m the only one???

I'd been planning to use the chipper winch for tensioning the speedline, and minor lifting, but for bigger lifts (lower pieces) I'd planned on using the GRCS.

Just for clarification, nobody got the job... the tree will remain standing. The homeowner got some sticker shock from the prices and decided to leave it.

Did he tell you what he budgeted/ was hoping to get it for?

Is that all material hauled off-site? Looks like a fireplace chimney. I wouldn't buy pine, but if I had it, I'd burn it.

What kind of pine?

Re: I\'m the only one???

Looks a piece of cake compared to the two largest pines we've done. One was the largest western white pine in Seattle, at 60 " dbh.....40 yards of chips. took 2.5 days. limbs up to 20" and 60 feet long......very complex, primaries on one side, tiny drop zone on the other.....

The other was similarly massive, and needed a 90 ton crane for the 48" plus trunk wood at 90 foot radius. That one was easily 3o yards of chips. And the second largest pine I've seen locally.

The subject tree has no large wood...and the smaller leads could be lowered off the large one, then it could easily be free dropped, or butt hitched.

Wouldn't take a day to brush that out, speed lined, or carried. Branches look relatively small. No doubt part of the price is removing the wood. We usually find a way to get people to come and get it for free..or pay them a few bucks to pack it out of the back yard....

Just my impression from looking at photos..which can be deceiving...but that tree looks relatively easy, save for its location.

Ask him what he's willing to pay to just remove the tree and chip the brush, leave all the wood, and try to give it away. Seems to me that would take a day total?

Re: I\'m the only one???

I was gonna send the wood to a local mill. I was figuring maybe a day per lead. It was something to do in the winter, keep people busy. He said that my bid was reasonable, but it was just a lot of money... and he was gonna leave the tree, as it is pretty healthy... just BIG.
