How do you train for a comp??

It's time to get serious when you have three months or so until the event. In terms of working out, this is known as a cycle.
Personally, I like to shed about fifteen pounds the hard way. Whatever it takes.

50' blowouts with tractor tied to harness.
Full on raging death swings into other climbers.
Free-climbing on inclement weather days.
Throw the pigskin as much as possible.
Get mean(show me your mean face).
Find your inner power animal (American River Otter).
Eat less food that makes you fat, and more food that makes you skinny.
Ride bicycle to work.

If you have trouble getting motivated to work out then I suggest trying to sabotage others with Little Debby Zebra cakes(overnight them to fellow competitors). This evens the playing field a bit, but only works if you resist eating some first. One Zebra cakes = ten pounds.

he knows they are my demon. i have to eat one while i'm doing the work climb. eat one right before the footlock and belayed speed climb, i feed one to the dummy in ar, and i daydream about them while throw bagging. all in all i love zebra cakes. fighting chicken is ready for a rematch swollen river otter. if there is a tie again we will have a zebra cake eat off until one of us pukes or dies (thats the way we roll) the last one standing wins all. in fact i think we should incorparate a zebra cake eating event into the comp. bonus points for tricks preformed while eating the delicious little nuggets. by the way super swollen river otter you will be destroyed on 4 17 10.

it will be more like a head to head puke off only on rope, right now i have the pie scene from stand by me in my head

Thanks for stalking me and my Tree Buzz posts and telling me what I do and don't do. Truthfully, Zebra Cakes are not my favorite Little Debby snack. No, not by a long shot. My favorite is Oatmeal Cream Pie.

"Whacked out"? What do you know about addiction? I used to *@#* *#%@ for coke. You don't know me or what I'm capable of.

Sydogg will the Dynamic Dudes climbing team be wearing the same uniform as your avatar? It is odd that both of you suffered the same injury and lost the same three fingers or is that part of the initiation onto the team?

Why are you guys asking the Sydogg so many questions?

He doesn't know the answers anymore than you do.

He is mortal. If you feed him Zebra Cakes, he will die. Just like you.

Stop deifying him. His footlock will never see sub-twenty times.

Watch out for his Throwball though. He eats Harrison Rockets for breakfast.

The Dynamic Dudes do everything together. Of course we'll wear the same uniforms as in the avatar. We only seperate ourselves while we compete in an event. Afterwards we'll hang out again. We're pretty close. No, the Dynamic Dudes are a metaphor, they don't exist. They represent how I feel about my relationship with my brother, The Skeet-Bag.

Sydogg have you ever considered shaveing your whole body to decrease wind resistance during foot lock?

[/ QUOTE ]

Shaveing is something The Sydogg would do to "shave" a few seconds off his time. I'm pretty good at footlocking with body hair, but without it...It just feels right. Freedom!

Try looking up a book called the Ultimate Warrior. It is a guy who uses simple excercise to build the body. Pull-ups, push ups in many different positions, also one legged leg lifts. you have to try these, go down on one leg, other leg out in front of you, let yourself go down where butt cheek touches top of foot, then stand back up all with out touching the ground. remember its the whole body that needs workout. Mind body and soul.

How on EARTH did I miss this thread? I laughed so hard a cried. Though seriously, I was looking through here to find hints on bettering my upper body strenth for speed climb. (Body thrusting is not my best friend). I got a pull up bar, and I have been hitting it every day. I am not QUITE up to 150 pull ups a day :)

So what else is recommended?

Butt cheeks touching the top of your feet is pretty extreme. Anything goes when in training though. Some of us may not be that flexible but as long as you try your best you will be your best. Maybe your butt-cheek can't make it all the way down... just try, thats all that matters.
