Hitch independent ZK-2 tether

Well done Moss!!
You really put a lot of thought into this design, it looks awesome!

I'm working on a better version but I'm backed up with my day job so I'll send the current til the better one is ready!

I read through most of this the other day and when I was climbing today, I thought of something. Does this accomplish the goal here? I figured that if switching from srt to drt was the goal, having the carabiner in place to begin with might be just as convenient. Not as fancy or insightful as some of the nice pieces you guys are coming up with of course but it works in a pinch at least.

Ben, glad to see you're coming into the SRT discussions. It looks like proof that numerous people can have the same concept without collaboration. Kinda cool, eh?

Moss is the mad scientist (to quote Adam P). I don't know how he finds the time to do what he does, but he does. :)

Looking good Eric. What no shooting back at moss?

We was working, I was taking reference shots for some documentation work I'm doing.

Likely story when we all know Eric is just a big HAM. lol

Nice shots. Real nice shots.

Moss was suspended between a massive Beech and a smaller Tupelo. He used some cool techniques of his own to get into position. No traverses that day, though.

I did get a short video of his descent to prove that gravity still has an effect on him, even though it's been verified that he weighs nothing.

Yep, I have the paperwork to prove that I weigh nothing. Got some video too, I'll post it up in the rec section.

Well shoot, this long legged slic pin tether actually worked out well. As Tony knew before I did, it can attach to either the top or middle opening on the HC. You can adjust the length of the tether a little say to fit a longer hitch by moving it it to one or the other attachment point. Since you lose a place to hook your HUT (holder upper thingy) when the tether is on the middle HC attachment point I added a loop to the tether to hook your advancer into.

I must have one of these!! Where can I purchase one! Haha

Bumping an older one..

Moss, have you spent anymore time in the tether lab since the last itteration?

I'm going to make a pretty short tether for use with a zigzag. I figured I'd bump this for feedback to see if you had any new ideas.

Zig-zag tether project sounds interesting. No progress on new RW tethers, too busy!

I was just out on the zigzag today and was thinking about a rope wrench tether. Glad to hear I am not the only one that thinks it would pair well with the rope wrench for somt srt fun.

Adam and Moss, did you have something crazy in mind or something simple? As I am looking at the combo it looks like maybe a short (6") eye to eye might work along with a tending loop of course. I was just going between the ddrt biner and the wrench. Kind of like a half scale ARB.

Frank

Actually a 5 inch sling might work. Pardon the tape, I am just thinking out loud. Maybe put the whole thing in some clear tubing for support and pushing.

I'm actually thinking about using aluminum and a slic pin now.

I'd like to do it in solidworks and get in machined but I'll probably start with a garage grindfest and go from there.

If I remember I'll post some pics when I do it.
