Hitch independent ZK-2 tether

Thanks Eric, I'm an oceans tether man primarily, but the move to hitch independent I think is a solid one, especially for big firs where I set a line as high as I can, then have to progress climb higher. Progress climbSRt=not great.

True that! Just curious, do you:
- send up a Running Bowline?
- have ground support untie base anchor and shore the standing end to you?
- set a connection between work line and anchor line in the crown to disconnect?
- something else I've never imagined? LOL!

Yea either have my running b untied and spliced eye pulled up to me, or occasionally bring a separate line up if another climber is coming up, or if we're leaving an access line (admittedly not often).

2-1 lanyard is pretty classic for advancing in the upper canopy of those firs if you feel like keeping that base tie for prunes. Lots of branches usually above you to climb after your initial ascent?

Or even like a 16 foot Ddrt climb line

I like that bamboo set up too! You may have a good amount of play and klankiness between the wichard shakcke and hole in hitch climber though. You'll see I wrapped my carabiner with a bunch of electric tap to fill the gap.

Yes that's true, if I'm going to a separate line, this tether won't be relevant. Mostly, I want to say on my SRT line and advance it, set a delta and work the tree SRT.
Mike no noticeable play with the shackle, not that bugs me yet anyway

I only tried it for a day to be honest. It does work great though, but needs more hours on it. I have been mostly climbing on the BDB, and now testing out the Rope Runner, so the wrench has been put aside for a little while. In addition, winter is slow out here

I understand this has already been attempted, but this set up works well with the bushings and the same RW Slic Pin. Anyone with splicing skills at the double leg tether that uses the wrench may like to attempt it. I have no splicing skills myself : ( But the tether should be a bit shorter, and would work even better with say, 5mm maxim cord, or something similar.

Great post; thanks for the photos. Nice idea.
