In case anyone else is interested, I called Rope-Tek today. They do not seem to have any active plans for a production run. Apparently, their machinist is battling cancer and so production is sort of in a holding pattern.
That would be a great loss.

For sure.. I hope that Paul can get the HH2 back in production as future climbers should be able to experience the joys of the HH.....A thing of simplistic, bulletproof genius....

Glad to see they are back in production, looks like they are back in stock at Gap as well. I just acquired a 2nd one from a member on here, arrived in the mail this morning. Promptly set a line and took it for a climb.
Wesspur was out, along with what seems like all my normal suppliers, luckily thanks to this thread I was able to order one from GAP. Figured I would grab one now before being phased out? My other main SRT device is a BDB, so have something for comparison. Not a fan of the aluminum Gizmo's, the HH2 looks BULLETPROOF!

Made a new tending point. The coat hanger wire one needed bigger eyes. The small eyes would deform into the slot a bit and jam up. I found some random mild steel bar stock in my fathers garage and spent a few hours tooling around. The "eyes" are about .625" Dia, with a large taper where the carabiner contacts during rotation. Less binding and easier to remove. Same with the inner sections along the HH body, they snag the pan head bolts. I need a sheet metal brake to bend it correctly, clearing the bolts but tight to the body. I'll likely make a second one this being the prototype, lessons are being learned. I'd like to use thinner gauge SS and get it laser cut. The budget is lacking currently...
Dave, I believe you don't use any type of tending holster? I myself find I like the HH much better without one...I run my HH in a stock configuration on conifer removals and throw a pulley underneath it for my sprawling removals, prunings, and such...

Yup, that's how I like to run mine also, works perfect. Some guys just seem to prefer having a tender though.

Call me crazy but I have find that all the tending holster does is fuck up the tending ability that a well dialed in HH has to offer...
I’ve found that there is less friction if the HH body is allowed to rotate during ascending. This forces the dogbone all the way back off the rope. Pushing from the bottom didn’t seem to guarantee that it would rotate, if not, the dogbone rubs, creating some friction.
Interesting, I found just the opposite. If the rope is stiff from your body weight and you are advancing with a knee and foot ascender, the HH advances like a dream, and stays oriented for instant engagement.
Same with a haul-back setup. Having the pulley underneath and on the carabiner, keeps the HH straight on the rope with super smooth engagement and release with less set-back than if the HH body were to rotate.
