Hitch hiker/2/x thread

What type of hitch cords do you guys like best with your HH2, particularly those of you using 11mm climbing line?

I'm new to the HH2, but I've been using Ocean Polyester 8mm with 11 mm Yale Blaze, which seems to work OK. (I'm using the hitch someone here came up with, although I forget who.)

I run both 8mm HRC and 8mm beeline on 11mm HTP and they both kick ass. The Hitch Hiker seems to really like HTP.

I also climb on htp, and used viper, armor prus 8, epicord 9.3 and liked them all. The 8s were a little better??? It takes a mean muthafucka to grab that hard ass rope. Lucky Paul cox made sum nasty pieces

I use the hhx with a home made hoster (two yellow wire terminal eyes and wire )and dmm Perfect o bener (the small one) on the Shackle now it don’t have much setback when tending and can remove from bridge quicky for Redirects. (If I feel needed swivel then I use the one Richard sells with it instead of Purrfect o) Just wish I had more room on the Quik pin to make a hoster like the hh2 has.

Sorry, Brocky! For some reason I kept thinking it was TimBr, but that didn't sound right...maybe you should have called it the Brocky Hitch after all! :sorprendido3:

Are you asking about John's illustration in particular, where he's replacing his swiveling bridge attachment and HH quickie with a single swiveling quickie?

I've run two ropes SRT before and a swiveling bridge connection would have been a benefit (cleaning gutters on roof, and had to be mindful of unwinding myself the proper direction when i wanted to change which way my body was facing).

When do you see the benefit of a swivel, especially SRT/ SRS?
I like using a swivel on my rope bridge, because it helps keep me oriented and helps to manage a twisted climbing line, not possible using a ring or other non-swiveling hardware. Since swivels come in various styles, some with a snap or a carabiner, the idea of combining a quickie and a swivel isn't that much of a stretch and from a practicality standpoint, it can reduce the amount of hardware used in certain climbing systems in a more streamlined and compact way.

I never used a swivel untill maybe a month ago when I got a cali swivel. I like the ability to attach multiple systems and un-twist with ease. Of course, a little fore thought can help to not get things twisted up, but it comes in handy sometimes.

Check out the thread titled " . " It's the original hitchhiker thread, much older, and much more info. It was retitled as . by the original poster, probably because he works for tree stuff and they don't sell the hh2 anymore. Kind of petty if you ask me.
I'll search that out for sure..

I ended up going with Rich's setup.. Although i think climbing gear is generally way overpriced... For what it's worth, i think what Rich is offering is a pretty decent deal, especially if you consider the retail of the individual counterparts.. $160 for a bare HH2.. for $188 you get an aluminum version, a couple 5 dollar rings, maybe $10-$12 of hitch cord & a quickie shackle that would cost $30+retail if you wanted to use it in your HH2.. If you apply that same logic to the $230 swivel version, your getting the swivel for $50 something..
If course this is all based on the assumption Rich's version would retail for 160 bare. The way i see it is, I'm walking away with more useable parts & a very versatile device.

A slick quickie in Albuquerque?

I wonder if there's a slick pin that will fit one of the Rock Exotica shackle swivels? Hmmm.

Yes Jeff, I'm surprised i have not seen this experimented with. Don't you have one of these kicking around? Also, isn't there two different bar stock versions of the RE shackle swivel?

I like these, it's too bad they weren't back to the drawing board with them, i unfortunately procrastinated too long.. I think it was related to bridge wear & some post over at instagram where some insta-arb started some net hysteria over his/her swivel naturally wearing in & possibly or having some metallic transfer to their bridge... Idk thats just what i heard from a vendor. Given its design & shape i wouldn't expect anything else to happen. All i know is it was a good alternative to running a rook & i wanted one.

Swivel rocks for tossing your tail overhead and having the system lay correct still. Rather than having to disconnect and spin the system or flake you tail over again.

I love the HH1 but have been stuck on a ZigZag / Wrench most of the season. The HH runs nicer, but never burning a hitch on the Zigzag. No matter how hard I burn it or creep on a wet rope. Is a game changer. Really interested in the HHx, a lighter body would be nice. Not having to fiddle with a pulley and tending point on a 'beaner. Or the slight change in feel as the 'beaner shifts around. I Hadden't thought about dealing with a Slick pin to redirect, seems like the only "con" of the HHx. A HHx with a Zigzag chain link thingy in place of the hitch would be the ultimate weapon IMO. Or perhaps just the slick pin / slot slide in place of the pulley and attachment point on a Zigzag.
