To maximise proceeds you may want to list the auction in alternative places and sites

Thanks Jerry for everything you have brought to the "tree" boards. I have stayed away from here due to the postings of a few. I tried the climbing gig, and was almost seriously injured myself. To be honest with you it scared the hell out of me.

Climbing is not my sole source of income so I opted to step out of the climbing and remain on the ground, but stayed in tree work. I have learend a lot because of people like yourself and many fine people here and the TH. I have thought about going aloft again... but we'll see.

I have been called a quitter and a punk by a select few... and it pains me too Jerry to see simple acts of kindness undermined by such hatred.

Again, thanks for all you have brought to this business. I wish I had the funds to bid on your saw... but it was out of my reach a long time ago.

Respectfully,

Gary

I was out of touch with the forums for a long time before the accident, got married, moved, settling into a new place, personal projects and work kept me away. Now I have mucho time to post. Especially with all the goings's on.

Thank for the kind words, Gary. You strike me as being an honest and hard working human being.

This is a really great thread, everyone is happy and that makes me happy.

Everyone in the world should be peaceful and share things which each other, after reading this thread I am so enthusiastic about living on Planet Earth.

This thread has inspired me to go knock on my neighbour's doors and give them all a big hug one at a time, telling them everything is gonna be all right, in fact that's just what I'm gonna do.

I was being genuine, I am a strong advocate of solidarity amongst my fellow human beings.

God knows the world need more of it these days.

thanks everyone, Fundamentals of General Tree.....is a great book, I like the one where you screw the lags into the top of the sections and crane them out.

Great idea.

bye

Sorry, syntax error there, by 'crane' I meant lifting up, I should have said hoisted them up.

thanks

Those chunks were lifted with a block and tackle just enough to clear the cut and then lowered. No crane involved.

I've used that technique and craned the pieces with a crane.

Gerry,

If you really intend to put 30% back to this 'fund', simply put that money into it own IRA fund and distribute it as you see fit. This way, the money will grow while it is determined how to spend it. You might even consult w/ a financial person (attorney) and be able to set it up as a charity of sorts. Like someone else said, its your money to spend as you see fit. Set up as a charity, people could donate to the cause (perhaps someone that had gotten help and is now back on their feet?).

I too kept track of the $ figure there but kind of lost track. Last I saw it was $5k. Is that stihl accurate?

The most recent comment on the lags for rigging vertically, I saw a video w/ Charlie Pottorf where he did that. I was amazed.

Best of luck on your recovery!

Has anyone heard of 'E-bonds' or maybe it called 'i-bonds'???
I remember someone telling me they are bonds you can buy from a bank that come in smaller denominations such as 100 dollars and greater. This might be a good way to have a specific amount of dollars that are easily transferable but still collect interest.
I really dont know too much about these things. I should go and buy 'The idiots guide to investing' or maybe take a class at the Junior College.

Thanks Tom, the board is much better for it.

Gerry I have the Bailey's poster up on my wall and I love it. It gets great comments from friends and strangers who don't know anything about this industry. Hope the healing goes well.
