Fu*%face Von Clownstick

It appears that the US and Russia will meet in Saudi Arabia for peace talks and have decided not to invite the other party (Ukraine) involved in the conflict. The only remaining question is how much is Trump going to concede, capitulate, and surrender to Putin?

Here's Trump (or Rubio or Hesgeth) holding up the promise from Putin that he won't seek any more territory in Europe.

Is Elon aware of how much it cost taxpayers to fly an Air Force C-17 from Washington DC to Daytona Beach carrying the presidential limo and motorcade and communications suite, just for an afternoon, then fly it back to Andrews AFB? And to have a four engine 747 fly the president and a handful of passengers on a round trip from Palm Beach to Daytona so he could take a victory lap at a sporting event he knows nothing about and has probably never watched in his life? And to have the Air Force 757 that serves as the backup to Air Force 1 fly a big circle from MacDill AFB down to Palm Beach, up to Daytona and back MacDill to escort him to the race? And then fly the circle backwards to escort him back to Maralago hours later? And to have a KC-135 tanker and a couple of fighter jets flying in circles for hours and hours on end over Maralago to provide air cover? And then to have another tanker out of MacDill go fly in circles over the Atlantic while he attends the race? And what about the expense of all the police detail from Secret Service down to state troopers, sheriffs, local police at both ends of this publicity stunt? And the incalculable expense to those tied up in traffic?

Yesterday's tweet from Javier Corrales:

All my life I have studied democratization and autocratization. My 1st field trip was to newly democratic Argentina. I then added autocracies to my portfolio: Cuba, Ven, etc. I think I can recognize the stages of transition to authoritarianism. Here are the boxes checked off:

1. President thinks he is saving the country.
2. Ruling party acts like a rubber stamp. They like his policies and/or fear his retribution. Either way, they never say never.
3. Overuse of executive orders, including declaring national emergencies.
4. Colonize the federal bureaucracy. Fire the staff. Replace them loyalists.
5. Defund institutions as a way to force compliance.
6. Trash-talk institutions that the govt dislikes. Treat them as guilty actors and harming agents, without conducting reviews or involving court procedures. Justify their purges as efforts to save taxpayers' money
7. Mobilize hate across society. Encourage people to develop intense hate of some out-group (illegal immigrants, trans folks, ethnic minorities, Hollywood celebrities, elite colleges, dissenters).
8. Replace the rule of law with autocratic legalism, which means: for my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law. Autocratic legalism requires you to end the independence of the justice department
9. Harass the free press. Create a hierarchy: good press (treat me kindly), full access; bad press, no access. Entangle news organization in legal battle
10. Create information blackouts: https://doge.gov/savings
11. Defy the courts. Make sure you have a conflict with the court, so that you can counterattack them en bloc

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has ordered the digital and physical destruction of 18 publications on workplace safety practices, according to an internal February 7 email obtained by Popular Information. The email says the publications have been removed from the OSHA website and tells staff that any physical copies should be "disposed of or recycled."
Almost all of them are not associated with DEIA topics but appear to have been targeted because they include a DEIA-related keyword used in a completely different context.
For example, one of the purged publications is "OSHA Best Practices for Protecting EMS Responders During Treatment and Transport of Victims of Hazardous Substance Releases." Popular Information was able to obtain an archived version of the publication through the Internet Archive. The 104-page document — a collaboration between dozens of government agencies and NGOs — was published in 2009 to detail the steps "employers need to take to protect their EMS responders from becoming additional victims while on the front line of medical response." DEIA issues are not discussed.419b5bd1-81ec-4c98-ac2f-22a31242a3f0_1196x1566.png
On page 94 of the publication, however, the words "diversity" and "diverse" are used in a context that has nothing to do with race or gender. The publication notes there is a "diversity of state-specific certification, training, and regulatory requirements" for "EMS agencies" and "diverse conditions under which EMS responders could work." Similarly, on page 96, the publication notes, "EMS responders are a diverse group" and "risks vary with their primary and secondary roles."

rational, genius strategy. making the world a better place

Elon’s gutting of USAID and their halting of funding and programs is having real life and death consequences for those who are involved in clinical trials.

  • The President and the Attorney General (subject to the President’s supervision and control) will interpret the law for the executive branch, instead of having separate agencies adopt conflicting interpretations.”
