Unfortunately, it seems he's bent on making the Untied States into a pariah state. Sucker punching your best friend in the face because "reasons" isn't the best international policy to take. Who would want to trade with the US now? Who would want to invest there? It's going to take a long time, but other countries are going to start shifting away from America. You haven't been the greatest country for quite a while and now he's pushing you farther down the list.

unfortunately I think some of the closest inner circle is indeed as batshit as he is. What is special about DJ is the brazen unapologetic in your face blowhard element. He’s actually probably pretty ineffectual alone, and has adapted his goals based on his potential alliances within his circle.
That and he’s a blatant lier, swearing up and down he is not going to inact project 2025… and just a few short days in…

Yes, you do that a lot, assuming something that fits neatly into your narrative.
I do think life, any life, is a miracle to be marveled. That however does not translate into thinking that all that live are off limits to an early death.

Killing from the logic crippling emotion of hate is murder. You do not need hate to take out the garbage.

No one on this thread, to my knowledge, has had any personal dealers with Trump. That doesn't seem to have any effect on the overwhelming hate that dominates this thread. It festers and dominates them.

You believe he will do more harm than good. What if you're wrong? Has the world been ticking along seamlessly and without gross self-serving actions by those in control prior to his taking office? If the world is to change in any significant way, can it be done without a paradigm change to things as they currently stand?

Is is not possible that we are all actually on the same team, as working class people who don't have guarantees that no matter what happens we will all be just fine. Who among us has all they could ever need, even if they needed a $300,000 hospitalization. Even if you personally could handle that as a one time, one person event, what about everyone you care about? What about if the cost of living doubles? The rich aren't concerned about it, but what about you, and those you care about? They have us very effectively divided against eachother, when we could all have better lives if we could just set aside the nonsense and come together to deal with the real issues. Does anyone feel like there is anything controversial about the notion that if you work you should be able to have at least the basics in life covered?

Why do you think I have been offering countering points of view? Many others as well have tried to breach the divide with only strengthened arguments in return on why the divide must stay in place.

What common ground can you accept besides our working class?

I don't know that any other is needed, but I am open to suggestions. What do you propose as a commonality under which we could come together? I feel like this is a fantastic microcosm we have here, and I really do want to find more common ground.

I love this land, which I would expect folks on both sides agree with. I want to protect it from increased pollution and degradation while making strides alongside other nations to slow/reverse our society’s impact. The second statement is where the disconnect between fact and delusion/apathy begins.
 
First go round people wrote off his stupidity and other behaviour but this time round he's really stirring up some deep resentment. Anger is often the first thing out of the mouths of people I encounter. It's got to leave lasting damage. People remember.

Before the Corps ratcheted down its plan, local authorities scrambled to move equipment and warn farms about possible flooding, said Victor Hernandez, who oversees water management on one of the rivers, the Kaweah in Tulare County. He said the Corps gave him one hour notice on Thursday.
“I’ve been here 25 years, and I’ve never been given notice that quick,” Hernandez said. “That was alarming and scary.”

It's like I have no water to wash the pans in the sink because someone is taking a bath and someone else is taking a shower and the lawn sprinklers are going and my washing machine is doing a load and my wife is watering the flowers and the dishwasher is running. But Trump says you have a tank full of water in your toilet so I'm going to order it flushed and then you'll have water to wash your pots and pans.
