Foot lock prussick tether

Does anybody use a tether or leash on their FL cord to keep the line upright and keep it from bunching up and getting caught while ascending?

I've seen guys use it before in competion, but I never thought I needed one until the other day my FL cord got stuck somewhere on my harness while bringing my feet up for the next lock keeping me from reaching full extension. (I hope your following me). Anyway, I have some elastic cordage attatched to my FL cord about 4" from the carabiner and around my neck. It works O.K., but thought someone might have some other technique or advice. Thanks!

I'll try to post a pic. later.

You should check out the 1 Rob Bramlett made. 3/8" tenex with a bungee inside. Very nice! Rob????

Yeah i too was wondering where i could purchase on of those.

A technique that i use, if you can follow me on this. I have a Buckingham master saddle with multiple tie in points in the front. I hook my biner into the center loop as well as the left loop. What this does is keeps the prussic from dropping into my knees when i take a lock.
The second thing i do is truck the prussic into my shirt. This gives me speration and keeps it away from the climbing line. So the prussic would be attached to my saddle, then run up through my shirt and attached to my climbing line( I know sounds strange) .
I really hate any interference with my prussic when i take a lock, and this works great for me. It also enables me to not have to add anymore equipment to the system.
I know there are a lot of techniques out there!!!! anyone else.

I've made them with the bungee inside. It works VERY nice. It's a lot cleaner than having to attach something to your wrist, chinstrap, shirt, etc.

Well how do i get one? You availabe to splice one for me? Also, how do they grab on the smaller diamter ropes like velocity, or blaze.

That's funny, but sounds like a good idea! I'm gonna try it.

Rob may have spliced the first Bunn-G-String, but it was a group collaboration, and the reasons mentioned above is why we made it. Contact is if you need one. Mahk showed one in Arborist News Aug or Oct '07

i bought one of those bungee prusiks from rob at the southern last year and i liked it great for competitions but at times during regular work it kind of bothered me. if you ever need to stop for some reason you sink way down from the knot. meaning you must laynard in if you want to stop, well, i guess you don't have to but if you don't you sink down a pretty good ways.

yeah, you do...it's really more of what i'm used to i guess, the prusik i use every day when i sit down in it, i know when its going to catch just from using it so often. but with the bungee it just seems to continue to stretch for a really long time. which is also part of its value when in competition because you can stretch just about as far as humanly possible advancing up the rope. like i was saying earlier, its great in a dead sprint with no stops but if you need to stop for some reason its kind of freaky.
