How bout the gun laws and culture in Europe (I think Colb was alluding to...)?
Thoughts?
We have pretty strict regulations, own a lot of guns nevertheless, but use them mostly for hunting, not so much for children, we found the breaking wheel to be a more effective teaching instrument.
Until a few years ago, the police didn't wear guns. Then there was a right wing nut who killed and shot 77 people (many of them children), and after that some other right wing nuts are declaring 'heightened threat level' every now and again so as to let the p keep their 'temporary' armament. The p are shooting themselves in the feet and all sorts of other accidents are bound to happen; it would be very easy for a crook to steal a p gun for example.
Civilian guns here are hidden away in secure lockers, separate from the ammunition.
Norwegians are known for not holding their liquor (but they don't let the fact impede their drinking habit) - I'm really glad they don't generally carry firearms. A drunk with a gun is much more dangerous than one with a knife for example, even if the intent might be the same.
In order to own a gun you have to have a legitimate use for it, such as hunting (have to take a course) or sports (have to be a member in a shooting club to own a pistol for instance, since pistols don't have any legitimate uses other than target shooting).
Some statistics:
U.S. citizens own one gun per capita, we own 1/4 gun per capita.
World ranking, the U.S. are no. 1 in how many guns they have per capita, we're no. 11.
About ten times as many per capita are murdered in the U.S.A. as here.
There seems to be a difference in gun culture as well, and significantly we have some sort of welfare and human rights system in place, that may be helping too. Also we don't have death penalty. Nice for the state to set the example that one should not respond to an atrocity with another atrocity.
I would call the FBI on this guy...about as close to a school shooter psycho as anyone out there in Bannonland.
Hsell? I sure as hell hope you don't possess any firearms. I'm deadly serious.
Deadliest school shooting in US history was Virginia Tech. Did it with 2 pistols.
Those get banned too? Seriously. If not, why not?

About 5 million in a large area (385 000 km^2 - second scarcest population in Europe). Biggest city is 700 000 people. What’s the population of Norway?
When the words of a porn star are far more believable than this GOP clown polluting the White House....
I believe the estimate for the demonstrations this week end was 500,000-800,000 nation wide.Just keeping it real:

Not knocking anyone or saying this diminishes the message. But if y'all call BS on Trump's crowd size then this seems fair. Nationwide crowd estimated at 1.1 million. Not too shabby.
Rico, here's the root of our frustration:
I am 100% certain that if every possible gun control measure you want to enact is enacted there will still be more school shootings. And not necessarily fewer. Do you doubt this?
So then what? Do you shrug shoulders and say, "Well dang, we tried but there's nothing more we can do"? Of course not. You'll want more. And more. Until it finally (maybe) sinks in that the problem is mental, societal, cultural, familial.
I guess I'm tired of arguing about which useless and oversimplified "solution" to throw at a tremendously complex problem.
Bottom line: ANY "gun control" short of total confiscation is doomed to failure. Psychos will ALWAYS have access to guns. Either abolish the 2A or don't. Stop pretending to accommodate gun owners. Please.![]()
So why did you vote for the lying fat fuck?
Fine by me too. Gonna be tough sledding, but at least it would be honest, democratic and unassailably Constitutional.I've said that from the beginning, I've no bones about it, repeal the 2nd tomorrow, fine by me.
