Echo top handle saw

Agree. It is less predictable on start up than I’d like. Lots of backfires when starting too. My 355t starts first pull every time once it’s warm.

I still love the 2511 though. I honestly can’t tell if it’s on my saddle sometimes.

Two weeks ago I racked mine while chogging with an ms661. Forgot I was wearing the 2511t, lol.

It is a little hard to start on first pull. Mine has improved (or I have) with age. It is easy to start with 2-5 pulls. Starts easy when it is hot.

I agree that it gets better the more I use it, but I feel sure my coil is good. I run 93 non-E and haven't tried anything else in it. Also, idle set to 3200 rpm, which a little higher than most saws but middle of the spec for that saw. Guesstimate I've got about 25 tanks of gas through mine. I also checked my plug gap when I got it and cleaned plug and checked gap again after first few tanks.

However, I did have to spend some extra time tweaking the low and idle on the 2511 more so than my Stihl(s). On my Stihl(s), I typically run the low mix up to lean until it finds it peak rpm then back off to rich about a quarter-ish turn, then set the idle rpms using a meter. That generally puts it close enough to crank, idle, and accelerate fine under most environmental conditions with only minor tweaking to get it fine tuned. With the 2511, I find that particular method still gives erratic idle, poor acceleration, and sometimes a hard start especially under different environmental conditions than when I tuned it. I learned to just tune the 2511 low mix until I get snappy acceleration, which is always a little rich, then I set the idle for 3200rpm. I also found that I had to tweak the high a little in conjunction with the low in order to get the right response, which again is a little rich. Runs like a champ though after doing it this way. Environmental changes don't seem to affect it too much.

Does anyone care to share thier hands on experience (see what I did there) with this top handle chainsaw echo cs 2511tes
Liked my co workers so much went out and got my own. Normally run a Sthil ms 201t just a little to bulky for the prune work I do, but still good for “ bigger” removals... the cs 2511t is a handsaw with gas no questions asked lightest climbing saw

Welcome to The Buzz, @Nyatg99

Glad to hear that you are enjoying that buzzermcbuzzy. I have one too. Most useful saw in my kit along with my ms661. I'm sure you've noticed that some guys are modding them with pico chain, muffler gills, etc. I would love to buy some kit from chainsawbarsuk. They have a quarter sprocket tip bar that would be insane for finesse pruning. I like the reach of my 14" bar for pruning full size trees.

You can use search functions within the website to turf up a lot of this stuff instead of slogging through long threads. You can also use Google with "treebuzz" as a keyword to retrieve different results. Again, welcome to The Buzz!

I've been running a 271t for a couple years. Good little saw, lightweight.

Not as much power as some of the typical Stihl's but treat it for what it is and it will do a good job. In other words, don't treat like a 60cc saw let the saw do the work. Don't rush the cuts. I've cut through big stuff with it before.

Echo makes good equipment. The one thing I've noticed with Echo equipment is how easily it starts. Once you get it started once for the day the rest of the time 1-2 pulls usually. No jerking around in the tree trying to get your saw started.

Anyone do any modifications to an Echo top handle? I haven't done anything to mine. Anything worth looking into?

Muffler mod and a timing advance makes a big difference. But look at your muffler first, I took a friends 355? ( next size up from 2511) anyway I took his muffler off and it was opened up already. Meaning it didn’t have any baffle bullshit inside. Saw ran fine just the way it was.

I think the next size up is the 271T that @climbingmonkey24 says that he uses.

I purchased the 2511t a couple months ago. Very powerful, lightweight, and rugged.

My only gripe is that it is difficult to start, whether a cold start or with the engine already warm.

It gets so annoying that I end up just using my 193T.

Does anyone else have this problem with the 2511t?
Did you figure out what was going on with your Echo?

No. I should have brought the saw back to the dealer but never got to it.
We still use it but mostly as a back up.

If it started reliably I would Definitely choose IT over the 193T. It is more powerful than it looks

I had the same hard start trouble with my first 2511t. I bought it right after they were released here in the US. Took it back to the dealer and it was found to have a bad coil. They gave me a new one under warranty. Haven't had a problem with it since.
