Dump trailer with platform for a mini....?

i honestly like my ramrod but it has been a paid. in my ass with 2 blown out pumps and constantly leaky hoses. I feel like the hydraulic system is contaminated. but when its working its been great. we are not into the big removals too much and we do I work with a guy and his swinger or another company with a big grapple. the zahn speed and turf friendly is really appealing

I'm not sure you could fit the newer mini-skids perpendicular on your trailer like that. Also, you'd see a lot more tongue weight with a heavier machine. I really like my ditch witch sk755 and will get a comparable one to replace it when I need to. We almost never lay alturnamats on lawns for protection. The only time I've caused any damage that would be visible after a rain and mowing is when the ground was totally saturated and the client wanted to go ahead with the work anyway. The Zahn does look pretty slick, though.

Kevin,

I wonder if you can have your tongue up a little high, tail of the trailer down a bit low, blocks under the rear of the trailer to support the tail weight, and push the chipper into the trailer, mini staying on the ground.

I put a wood block under the tail of my tandem-axle trailer, and have manual support legs that drop down on my other mini-hauler trailer.

I have a dump trailer with a platform, and what we really like is the versatility. It is 20 ft. long, including the 4 ft. platform. We rarely put the mini (Toro TX1000) on the front, but we have that option if we need it. But what does go there is my branch manager attachment, and a smooth 46" high capacity bucket. The 48" rake grapple stays on the mini when it is transported. Plus, the platform is a great place to put a foldup ladder on the way to the job. Also, once the attachments are off, it makes a great place to lay out saws and tools. My platform base is large heavy duty expanded metal.

I will try and get a picture of a guys truck up here.
I think it was a L9000 with a platform for mini in front of dump bed. And he either pulled a chipper or his track loader depending on job. Was well thought out how he built it.
1998 ford and when I asked for pictures he said he has it for sale as he's building a new one. Message me for details

Here’s some pictures of mine. Got it made locally. 16000 CAD, 5 ft platform, 10 foot dump, 15000 lbs GVW. I love it. Would probably add another foot to the platform if I did it over but I was trying to keep the length down.

New to me. Going to set it up for Dingo and attachments. Looked at a few new ones but they were way over priced. Found this at a local landscaping & nursery for cheap, figured it was a good starting platform. And since buying it locally we have already had a few conversations about me doing some tree work for them. I think it was a good buy that may get a lot better.

NICE. We too are looking to set up a trailer for the skid steer and implements. That’s a pretty sweet start!

Thanks Mert.
It is a 6.5 x 16, 7000lb. It's actually an old (1993) International trailer. When I stopped to look at I couldn't believe it was 25 yrs old. Then they showed me the title, the maintenance log, and the receipts for everything related to the trailer since new. Gotta love a company that takes care of their equipment.

Preliminary loading until I decide what I want to add for betterment. Grapple is attached, 1st row is Forks & Bucket, 2nd row is Grapple Bucket & Dozer Blade. Ratchet binders and chain are on order.

Frank here is something we came up with and built in the last week or so. 10 mats from the end or side. Can be loaded on the front of the dump trailer or pick up. We are gonna make a second that stacks into this one so we can easily carry all 20 without loading and unloading by hand all the time.

The same type of rack could be set up for your implements. We might make one for our implements as well so we can put them all on the dump trailer and easily take them all off at once when it’s time to manage wood or debris.

Mat movement is on my list also Mert. I like the idea of moving stuff off and on with less moves when I want an empty trailer for other stuff. I need to stop by and hi, it's been awhile. I am down that way a couple times a months anymore.

Yea man give me a shout! I can give you your equipment back. I haven’t used it for a bit.

Until I get it all sorted out and arranged the best, I am going with overkill in the layout I had. If I an not strapping the mini down correctly please let me know. All I was told was that it had to be secured through the back and through the front to hold the arm down.

I bought a small Bandit tracked stump grinder a while ago. Sales person showed up to deliver it with a trailer and one strap on each side of the machine from front to back. From D-ring on one side front through front point on machine, through back point and over to back D-ring on trailer.

It never occured to me to use straps or go side to side like that.

Man frank you need to buy some straps. ;)
All kidding aside the rear chain should be through the red triangles on the side of the platform. It won’t take much to bend or break that handle on the weight. On the back, at least, it might be faster to have 2 short chains rather than fishing it though the holes every time. Even easier attach the rear chains to the right length, drive the toro forward to tighten and put the load binders on the front. :birra:
