Dump trailer with platform for a mini....?

Speed up the loading process at the end of the day. Plus, it would be more efficient to load it into the back of a truck. You could stack it better. Also, some logs would be nice to leave long and sell to a mill. Also, I could park the log trailer next to the chipper and feed the chipper with it. Mini brings the brush over and just drops it, and goes and gets more brush. The loaf loader would feed chipper and then load logs as needed. Atleast this is the way I am leaning towards.
Makes sense to me.

Overall weight when loaded, will be the biggest issue.

I've never had much of a issue stacking with my mini...but I can see it would be faster with the boom.

So if you have the mini all the time, why the log lift? Just curious

I run a mini and a grapple trailer. Setup works awesome. Trailer lifts more than the mini, but the mini can forward everything to the curb. I sold dump trailer and never looked back.

That trailer looks light duty though. The tongue makes me think it cant be rated for more than 10k gvw. Leaving only 3k maybe in log after loaded with mini.

So am I the only guy who has ever considered putting a chipper on a trailer with the mini skid platform in front of it? Seems that most of the time I want the mini is when I also want the chipper. 1 truck and trailer rolling to the job site is my thought here.

I have considered stretching the frame of my chipper for a space for a mini. I figured getting the chips into the chip box may be a problem tho. It seems like that would be the best way to haul it in a forestry truck package, with only the one tuck and bringing the chipper. The biggest issue is that I don't own a mini... I am going to have to work on that.

Did you see Islandedge's f550?

I wish I bought that.

Was on Treebay.

I put mine in the chip bed or service body (chip onsite or dump before loading for home.

I would like a mini platform in place of my man-cab. Too old of a truck to put that money into, though.

Jim Steele / Jim 454 had a roll down door, IIRC, on a mini and tool box between his dump body and cab. A sweet work shop.

Saw this picture here recently.

Measured it all up today and I would need to have it built because they just don't normally make short equipment trailers but. A 12-14ft bed is all I need, 10k of course. Axles shifted to the rear since it will support the chipper load but it does seem like a valid concept. I think that and a combo dump trailer would be perfect for one truck operating. Pick which trailer depending on the needs of the day.

Aren't you worried about chip throw with your smaller chipper? There was a Canadian fellow on here for a bit that had an all in one a 9" chipper offset with side dump box in front of it and stumpy next to the chipper. It'd cost more (could do cheaply actually) but you could then use your truck for logs and it'd truly be a one and done although you'd likely be in cdl land at that point

It is a concern for sure, not sure that it is a deal breaker. There is the option of adding an auxiliary blower if needed or preemptively mounting the chipper portion on slide rails and just moving it forward for chipping and back again for transportation.

Or do the turntable thing. With my chuck and duck and now even with my old Vermeer 1230a the bogging causes poor chip throw which makes for a lot more set up and take down time. If the chipper was on slider wouldn't you wind up with several feet of trailer to fight the brush over?

You are both correct. Both reasons are why I haven't gone there yet or finished a possible design. The easy answer is side by side but that makes for a 8ft wide trailer plus fenders unless you go with a D/O which makes everything sit higher.

You could always put a divider in your truck just behind that door. Allowing you to chip and then throw the mini in from the side when you were done. I’m sure you could get fancy and hinge it to one side in case you wanted to load longer material or more chips.

That is always an option Mert. One I keep considering also, but I need to load the Dingo in the bed a few times to see if I am okay with that process. I have yet to try loading it into the bed yet. You know it's that fear of falling off thing, lol.
