DRT

...means the carabiner will act as a force multiplier, so the math is now beyond the charts we've applied here.

Yes. Plus with that system your suspension points are being strongly side loaded were with a normal two rope system they would be mostly loaded in compression.

Hanging off buildings and bridges etc is not comparable to navigating ones self throughout the crown of a tree. ...let alone, undertaking any kind of work, or the cutting tools involved..
How did you come up with that? How is gravity effecting you different hanging on a rope from a tree or hanging on a rope from a bridge or building? I've hung from bridges, trees, side of concret forms clipped off to Johnny clamps and no there's not much of a difference. If you only have one point of contact and that one is compromised your hitting the ground. Plain and simple. I've bummed the ground more times than I care to remember and one time is to many in my book.
It's this kind of attitude that gets you hurt or your opinion shut down when "they" come into your field and tell you what's safe. What we need to do is listen to them and take the chance when given to show the systems we already have and educate them.
It's amazing to me that you can acknowledge that veteran climbers can make a mistake, but your above it. Doesn't it make sense they thought the same way right up to the moment of "oh shit". Hmmmm

How did you do that Kevin? Did you ascend the central line with the two outliers in tow, and then pull yourself into position as if you had grappled the outliers?

Flippin:

I really do love drt. Going on 14 months now and don't see me looking back!

Kevin, now I want to see you flip with a chainsaw! I see you had a handsaw... You are a superstar. I like that red and black Rope Runner too.

I can't say I DRT every day, but I am going to two lines far more often. I really do love the way you can almost float through the canopy. I was one of them that was skeptical at first, but now find that two lines is not that hard to manage and does so much to aid you while working a tree. So Kevin - Thanks for leading with style.

It makes me think that if you set up the Rock Exotica Rigging Hub with three lines rather than two like Johnny does, then you could have a three way adjustable floating crotch, with three parallel lines running through the multicender.

I ascended my normal doubled rope ascent which is my favorite method. I swung over to the second tree and redirected one of my lines. I tried the tree drt but it was swaying to crazy and sketchi ng me out.

Johnny pro was in third tree and he sent me over his bone and I was able to float up the tree. Pantin ing up each line individually until I couldn't go any higher. I went up maybe four or five more feet from where I was in the video. And I was able to snap cut the top out. I snap cut the whole spar down to about 15 feet. Floating above the spar on the way down was a trip.

Kevin did awesome!!!! I love working with this guy!

Awesome. I've got a tree to remove soon, my boss and I were talking thru how to get it down and this was exactly what I was planning. Three TIPs in adjacent trees, no weight on the dead bloke. Perfect. Nice work Kev.

What's the game plan for something like that Mac. Three throws, three base ties, and spikescend your way up each line?
