Demoing a new slic pin RW and getting some air time

Wintertime television. Looking good on the big screen!

First few minutes showing the functionality of the new tether, then just some climbing and hanging out.

As a new climber i watched your video a couple times as it confused me the first time I watched. After watching the second time I am assuming that you advanced your tie in while on the way up? I didn't see the footage of this process, hence my confusion. At around 8:26 you pulled your line down from above and reset to get to the ground?
Also I tried to figure out how you had your bridge set up. Are you using two Bridges? What advantage does that afford you?
Beautiful view from up top and some beautiful country up there. Would love to visit the Northeast some day!! Stay safe my friend.

Nice vid, as usual (moar catz plees) and nice tether. The shackle and slic pin, what/where to find?

Can you or someone tell me why they favour either the HC or the Pinto (or other micropulley) with the tether in the becket?
I did a search to answer this question a week ago and am still reading though all the interesting but irrelevant results.

I figure it might just be down to some people needing the extra HC hole, and some others got tired of having the Wrench in their face?

I choked a canopy anchor single rope with a Singing Tree Quickie shackle, ascended on the Rope Wrench up into the crown then switched over to a MRS (aka DdRT) to advance up the pine. When I reached my high point I was alternately choking my lanyard and main rope around the stem to progress, wasn't anything to tie into otherwise. I repitched MRS as I went down to descend out of the tree.

Yes, using two bridges. I primarily use the bridge with the swivel but If I'm climbing on two SRT lines I might use both bridges. Or when I'm using the DMM Captain Hook I might attach it to the second bridge. Sometimes I anchor my lanyard on the second bridge. It's all about having the flexibility to change climbing modes at any time.

Thank you! The shackle is a 5/16" Wichard Twisted Clevis, I bored it out to fit a slic pin. The slic pin is a Rope Runner bird replacement pin

HC or Pinto is personal preference. I like shared components that work for SRS (SRT) or MRS (DdRT), I switch from SRS to MRS from time-to-time so the Hitch Climber pulley is perfect for me. The third center opening is where I hook in my advancer to move the wrench up ascending SRS.

It's been awhile, since I've been on the Bdb solid a few years now. I think I was hooking my bra to my bridge ring, did not work perfectly iirc

Lately I've been seeing a lot of good uses for those slic pins and tree quickies. Yoyo did a video recently using a Quickie on a Hitch Hiker 2, in place of the steel carabiner. Seems like a great way to make the compact HH2 even more compact. I also like the convenience of being able to separately connect or remove the RW with just the slic pins.

The double bridge concept looks like it's the bomb. My plan is to use a shorter rope bridge primarily for ascent, and the longer 2nd rope bridge for a more maneuverable DRT system, or on SRT by using self-anchoring lanyard tie in, with either a thimble-prusik or a throwing hook. Using either or both rope bridges in this manner seems totally awesome and I can't wait to give it a go. Thanks for helping us newbies think outside the box.

Guys, a recommendation please? I'm sewing up a tether like Levi.co talked about. How long should I make it, center-center? Do I make a rubber bumper on both ends?

This is a michoacan 4/1 on 26" 8mm HRC with a rubber thing on it, for Velocity. Best knot I made so far for DRT. Tried 9 and 10mm Epi, they just feel stickier to tend whenever I find a hitch that grabs.

Assuming you’re happy with your current hitch config for SRT, you want your tether long enough so that when your system is loaded you want enough room above the hitch so the top of the hitch isn’t hitting the rope wrench and you have enough room to get your hand in there on the hitch.

Rubber bumper on wrench end only, on the side where it will prevent the wrench from angling down too low when your system is slack (unloaded).

Thanks moss, I'm not sure about the hitch yet (pic is 24" HRC), so I gave it 8" to begin with.
But why do you say only rubber on the top? I put one on the bottom because it too prevents the wrench and tether from falling down a bit, I would think. It is easy to cut off so if you have any reservations, let me know.

That looks excellent, the bumper on the bottom shouldn’t hurt anything. The tether looks long enough to support a variety of hitch configurations.

Moss, is the gate opening of your twisted clevis 5/8 or 13/16"? I'd like to set up this way. Thanks
