Decisions Decisions

Thanks guys, I have some nice pear shape biners if need be. It seems like a spliced eye rope would be nice to keep things tidy and away from hitch/mechanical device. I'm gonna try to make up my mind by the weekend. I'd like to fool around w/ it at home before my next job.
Thanks and it's good to know there's help here w/ these systems

Spliced eye rope. SRT. My ropes are mostly not spliced. I have a few for crane work. Explain what you mean. Prussics with splices....you can use an oval no probs. Easier to orient for quick clip in and out. Not a fan of the pirate for this. Plus it leaves the gate up buy the system.

Thanks guys for all your opinions, I have the 1/2" samson hawkeye rope at the moment. I wasn't sure if that would work w/ most srt equipment so I added a $125 for better srt rope w/ sewn eyes. I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and go srt.

Unfortunately about half my side gigs are pruning/trimming so no spurs. So It's worth it to just get set up for the easiest way to ascend. So I guess I'll start looking into foot/hand ascenders and figure out if I want a mechanical or prussic style device. I'll go back threw the thread and check out the rope wrench set ups/options and mechanical options.

Thanks again and I'm going back threw this thread now to look at the mentioned options.
No! The eyes are worthless in SRT if you know a handful of knots!
It's just a way to spend extra money on the front end.

It seems to me the sensible thing to do would be to get a climbing line with an eye splice on one end.. Makes for a nice clean setup when using a Hitch Climber setup for DdRT, and if/when you make a move to the Wrench for SRT you can simply choose whichever end of the rope you want.. Fuck being married to one system....

Happily married to SRS here. Seems that every time I stray and fall for a tempting little MRS I regret it.

Ok I think I just about got my system figured out. Just a few more questions. I'm gonna get the yale bluemoon 150' w/ 1 spliced eye. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a prussic cord for the bluemoon, for using a VT/distel? I'll get spliced eyes on the prussic cord once I pick one out. Also do I need a double tether for the rope wrench or is a single tether fine? Thanks guys,

I prefer the single tether. It's less fiddly.
Epicord 9.3 is my absolute favorite for basically everything.
The 10mm epi gets an honorable mention, with armor prus, ocean poly, and beeline being my next go-to cords.
HRC is great, too, but I have more trouble getting the 8mm stuff to act reliably, especially when I change ropes. I have to vary the hitch more.

Coin toss on the single of double legged tether some guys like one, and some guys like the other.. I myself prefer a double.

I personally wouldn't even consider a Distel, and instead of the VT I would go straight to a Michoachan. Simply nothing like it performance wise. What cordage and length will depend on your weight...I am a light climber and run 8mm hitch cord, 24" eyes to eye, and 4 wrap Michoachan. It will take a little trial and error for you to find your ideal setup....

I use HRC on bluemoon with a distel mostly, some times a michoacan, and I like it. Have also had good luck with 9mm RIT.

So many things to consider. A shorty tether will require a shorter prussic..... though I can use 28" epicord 9.3 or 10 on bluemoon. No difference in a single or double. I prefer double. Try a few prussics. I own too many to count all at varying degrees of use. HRC is great. All epis are great and same for APs.....if I use 8mm I prefer shorter prussics. Larger diameter a longer length. Max being 28".

10 mm Armour prus will flo like water on the bluemoon,Michoachan knot is a great choice, anyother knot will tighten up on you and slow yo flow and take away yo CHI !!!!Plus SRT is the way be,it is the safest and should be the standard in tree work,I can use the canopy of the tree for compression and get high safe redirects to work the tree with ease.Take your drt system and clean up the dog poop wit it LOL JK I use my drt system just for work position.Try and find a srt climber that lives by yall and ask them for pointers.I know my self I try to teach and inspire safety.Have Fun,Oh yeah Bulldog bone has changed my life!!!!

Decision has been made, finally. Hitch hiker 2 w/ tether, weaver chest harness, 200' yale kernmaster w/ 1 sewn eye, throw cube w/ 200' dynaglide, dmm rigging plate. Got the foot ascender last week and loved it for drt but found out it'll destroy my 16 strand rope.
I like the looks of the hand ascender the w/ the built in pulley for canopy work/limb walks. Might look into that harder. Since I won't be doing too many 70'+ ascends I think I can live w/out the knee ascender. Or just put a foot loop on the hand ascender for a hillbilly rope walking system.
Thanks for everyones help and thoughts

Congrats, that is a hell of an order! I love all those things and they have served me well for years. My hitch climber setup stays at home.
Several long threads of valuable info on the hh2 are waiting...

It was a tough call on which device to get. The main decision maker was not having the rope wrench up by my face or chest. Rope choice was tough too, I was gonna get the
drenaLINE by Teufelberger.

I got some great tree's left in my yard for practice. I'll be low and slow till I get a good feel for it. One big red oak I got already has a throwline in it ready to go.

Kernmaster is good rope. Very smooth tight jacket, but stays very flexible. It can take a while to get a hitch hiker just right on a slick new rope like kmaster, so maybe a hitch cord sampler could help.
