Compact Bulldog Bone

I think most of us are finding that the Yale 11.7's need the 3/4" bollard. I assume it is because of the amount it flattens.
I've made the determination as well that the bone is flattening out my arrowfrog on heavily used sections. I have previously been mixing it up with ropes ,but after running the frog more since I got it thanks giving time. I've possibly flattened a few spots and I'll coast or creep a bit . I believe a firm , more static rope is in my future.

aaron ive been seeing the same thing. thanks for posting so i know its not just cause its a worn or broken in line.
im going to have to wait a little longer before buying a rope, but thinking the same thing, static rope is in my near future.

on a different note, one thing i love about the bone is i can throw it on my side D's and use it as a second lanyard when spiking up conifers. then get to my desired TIP and canopy anchor.

I too see changes in the degree to which the bdb holds on the same rope. I'm wondering if the change could be attributed to wear on the lower-spine friction point?

I wldnt say it is wearing away but it does develop some contoured wear quite quickly and I"m wonder if that cld be contributing to slipping on a rope that it previously didn't slip on.

I posted about that one day it was slipping like crazy and never again..weird.. But I did notice that unlike my hh, as the rope flattens a bit the bone can still rotate on the rope and end up grabbing on the fatter cross section vs the flatter

I'd almost put money down that if you slack out your rope, flip it around, shake out all the memory, etc., you'd find the Bone is consistent again.

I remember demo'ing a Rope Runner on the same line for 3 days straight, probably mostly in the lower 20'. It would slip when I was anywhere from 0' to 6' off the ground unless I shook out the rope. Once I was up beyond the most heavily used area, it ran fine.

Good call oceans . I cant find consistency in the occurance and its very minimal in my case . Sloow creeping when happens. Just surprising when your focused on one thing and you start to move a bit !

I haven't had a problem, and I've been using the same two ropes the whole time I've had one.

It flattens in the short term. Never stays that way

Mac, do you love the Bone on Imori? I have been eyeballing that rope for while. I like the idea of the rope being a tad fatter for better grip and ergonomics. How is the bounce?

Thats what I'm seeing , but the Yale 11.7,s are so supple ,perfect for cord on cord action . I just don't believe its the best rope for bdb. I have imori , I tried for the virgin run ,but I believe it takes 5/8 bollard ? And i was on 3/4 soo it wasnt great and tending wasnt dailed just yet ,like now so im stoked to try that again. I'm gonna put that 5/8 back in a give that and tachyon another go.The firmness of the rope choice has a big to do with little sublties in interface with bone I think. Like the arrowfrog tends dreamy like ,but if it creeps a bit (I'm every bit of 200 around the holidays out the shower )I think i have to try others as well.Chris brought up some points I like about static ropes in andres 11.5 static rope thread . So I guess I'm looking more so for a firmer rope not necessarily less stretch or energy absorbability in the rope . Imori and tachyon may be best for me and my style even if I don't want to admit it. So Mac 5/8 bollard for Imori?

I do like imori for the bone. I have found that it is a little less ideal in wet conditions. But I was just using tachyon today in the snow, making it soggy and fat. And it worked great.

I am running the 5/8. On both ropes.

I keep trying to get away from tachyon, but it keeps pulling me back. I would say I love it and imori equally. I'm not a one rope kinda guy

Attempted running the bone on 10 mm beeline blue with the dmm spacer. It slipped so I added the 5/8 bollard on the chain link along with the dmm spacer and it worked.

You say it worked, but could you elaborate? I imagine you just wanted to see if you could get it to hold and didn't run around a tree with it, but from the looks of it in the second picture, the arms are getting really upright. How did it feel to break open/release/control on descent?

Also watch out that the sleeve doesn't slip to the side over the link plate - the rope could then slip the other side and jam or cut get cut against the other plate.
