Compact Bulldog Bone

Adjustable Bulldog Bone. This is the top arm which now has a baffle connecting the two top arms, and a captive 10-32 SS adjustment screw, tapped into a slotted bollard.
By turning the machine screw "in" it opens the gap between the bollard and the friction pin, by turning the screw "out" it decreases the gap and increase the pivot length incrementally, and since the screw is angled to miss the pivot pin, it also increases the "S" path that the rope makes through the top arm when weighted.

YES! I like that. I am going to need one of those, the rubber nubs, the taper pins, the cool stylin' lower arms...I think I am going to need a whole new BDB. I like how that top arm is a solid piece. Did you give up the upper tending ring?

That's it, I'm selling a rope runner and my 1st BDBONE, so I can buy the latest version of the BDBONE! I just gotta have it! It has come a long way from the original version! Thanks, Gordon for building such a beautiful tool! I'm absolutely in love with your work, my friend!

The standard Bone has a good track record, and the bollards that roll stand up well.
The adjustable Bone has a fixed Bollard, which may have a downside because it will wear faster.
Since the bollard is slotted, if it wears too much there is the possibility that it could wear through
which would not be good on the rope. This is my concern along with the low use on this new
Bone.

Okay Gordon, are you saying that the original BDB is a better product than the newest version? I'm just staring at the pics and I'm foaming at the mouth to obtain one of them![emoji857]

The cross member in those top arms looks like a treat. Very nice work there Gordon. Is the lock nut square or hex? Can the screw be swapped out for an allen head?

It is a hex nut held in place with a drop of red locktite on the threads. There is actually not enough clearance for a regular lock nut.
An allen head 10-32 would work also.

Looks great Gordon. How much material is there to wear thru? shouldnt be too big an issue, but I guess people do let things go.

I think it's a good option, but love that I can flip/swap/replace almost anything. I'm not like burning thru stationary parts (I.e. not using a bollar), but I run vortex with no bollard and I can just flip the link when the time comes.
Well done making it adjustable, but in sticking with my thought that this frickin' thing has been perfect for me since day one.
