Compact Bulldog Bone

Its official.. tachyon is the only rope that will hold my fatass from creeping now. I swapped bolard on my original to 3/4 becuase I purchased another bdb from treebay and wanted to climb on my arrowfrog that's been collecting dust. Can't get a consistent grab. Cougar same thing with 5/8 maybe it will grab with 3/4 . Its more consistent than arrowfrog. I don't like tachyon bounce but everything else about its legit.Connecting it to static base anchor line helps just more to set up.. I haven't tried new to me &used bone yet. Original ..Still my favorite tool to climb on. Slack slurpin son a beach she is. .

Yes Tuebor, along with; brand, strands, construction, and version of BDB. I run 3/4 bollards on both of mine, and they work with Vortex or Yale 11.7. That bollard is useless on my 1/2 16 strand and my 11mm PMI static line.

I just recenter picked up a hank of the cougar orange (nice and bright). The diameter is smaller than my used cougar blue and it slips a bit. I think this is due to wear on the spine so I'm going to flip the spine. I think 5 hat will work.

11.5 or 10.5?

It has to be 11,5 he tried it on as it won't work with the standard bollards on 10,5 as I said. I need a 22 mm bollard with a concave surface (like a pulley) plus I've turned the spine around to create more friction. However the 22 mm bollard will narrow the gap in the top and create a lot of friction on the rope. This is rather annoying when ascending.

I've designed a different spine that I'll water jet some any day soon that might work better.

I'd recommend a larger diameter rope.

Gordon, just in case you haven't it in a while...The BDB rocks. I am still loving my pair, the more I use them the more I enjoy them. Thanks for the contribution to the climbing world.
Thanks ML, The Bone has been well liked. I would say that any rope under 11mm will not work, unless you are very light. The friction links are holding up very well to wear, and I have 7075 alloy aluminum parts on hand to refurbish any worn spines or arms.

Gordon. The cougar blue still works on the bone. They wore together with the rope getting fatter with age and the groove on the spine getting more pronounced. My spine is the symmetrical version so I can flip it four times.

For thinner ropes - you can move the top friction link out (away from the spine) by drilling a new hole. Then you dont need to make the bollard any/much bigger and you do not lose the easy tending.
