I sent it back just because my BdB creeps on it even with the bigger bollard on top and another one below...plus when you release the upper arms even slowly you get into a free fall...it was designed for fatter ropes and I really don't mind either...
Well, yes. Beside the creeping the descending was really jerky and dangerous far from smooth and controlled...When I gave details on weight (210 lbs) with no gear and about the fact that I was using a 13mm. rope but with in mind to buy a 11.7 or so, this is what I got. Obviously you can't have a bone working perfectly with two different diameters like these. But that's good because I think I would like to use always ropes from 12.5 up. Unfortunately, there aren't many to choose from and I don't know why even rope colors really suck! (IMO). The Cougar Blue was very nice in color but useless for me. The other option is Vortex 12.7 even though I hate those colors!!! Very frustrated!!!How come your BDB doesn't operate with the CB?
Did you ask specifically for one for larger rope?
Cheers.
I'm actually having a pretty good experience with the only rope i have at the moment...the Petzl Grip rope...maybe a little tight on the lower arms, but not much! Maybe surveyor should say something about this issue...All I know is that the cougar was a no no for me even with the bigger bollard...it will release instantly and if I didn't hold myself well with the rope with the other hand I would have injured myself...even low and slow...I'm able to run an 11.5mm and a 13mm on the same 5/8 or mid sized bollard that came with my bdb..6'3" and 200lbs unngeared.. so you can have the bone working quite flawlessly in both situations.Unless your pivot point has been moved and only surveyor knows what you got in that department..even so I would think with a larger bollard would give a solid repeatable result on a 12.5 .. It frustrates me that you don't have a good experience with this user friendly multicender. Tryed Yale imori 12mm?
Haven't tryed Imory yet.I'm actually having a pretty good experience with the only rope i have at the moment...the Petzl Grip rope...maybe a little tight on the lower arms, but not much! I think I would have got the same but to splice it you need to be a pro! And after all the Vortex shouldn't be so bad for me...maybe I could dye it 'cos the colors are just revolting.I am on 13mil New England kmIII right now, and loving it. I took a file to the very base of the spine to decrease drag on ascent, but really did very little modification. It is really fat. My hands are very happy
Which rope are u talking about splicing here?I think I would have got the same but to splice it you need to be a pro! And after all the Vortex shouldn't be so bad for me...maybe I could dye it 'cos the colors are just revolting.
I wish it could work on any rope...maybe it does with most of them, I don't know. Besides my 13mm and the cougar that I gave back I haven't tried any other with the bone.I'm able to run an 11.5mm and a 13mm on the same 5/8 or mid sized bollard that came with my bdb..6'3" and 200lbs unngeared.. so you can have the bone working quite flawlessly in both situations.Unless your pivot point has been moved and only surveyor knows what you got in that department..even so I would think with a larger bollard would give a solid repeatable result on a 12.5 .. The KMIII.Which rope are u talking about splicing here?
I read it here on the buzz...Seems like you have to add some thicker core and then tighten it upDid not know that was splicable!
I just read about it today and here's where I found it:Did not know that was splicable!
Even treestuff has it but it's a 12mm. They charge $40 to splice it...I read it here on the buzz...Seems like you have to add some thicker core and then tighten it up

Mhhhhh...thought they were both kernmantle construcion...Considering it's 2.30am over here I could be totally wrong...well, one is Yale and the other New England rope.I think you're mixing up Kernmaster and KM-III.
I'm pretty new to all this so it could be that every now and then I would make some mistake...Yea I was really confused there. I read through all 4 pages of that kernmaster thread to see if they derailed to kmIII but I dont think they did.
