Compact Bulldog Bone

Tico has the third batch Bone with the 1-3/8" pivot length. I am surprised that the cougar does not grip at all for him, but with over 200 lbs, the larger dia. rope would seem to be required based on Tico's experience. I would recommend trying the Orange Tachyon.
Is orange the preferred color on Tachyon? Would the Bone perform worse with the green Tachyon? I've read the specs but I can't find any difference between the two. Could the dye really be an issue?

My orange Tachyon always seemed thicker to me than the green, but it may be because it is old and swollen, and the green is relatively new.
I also suspect there are slight differences from one run batch to the other.

Hi surveyor, as the Tachyon should be slightly thinner compared to the Cougar blue I can assume it would just be similar if not worse on the bone I have...I read that many are very enthusiastic about the Tachyon which I never tried but maybe the bone I have really requires a bigger diameter rope...I really don't mind sticking in the 1/2" range ropes at all...

I think I have a BDB from the same batch as you Tico. I love the Orange Tachyon with 5/8th bollard and my 19o pounds of muscle. Works great. I haven't used the other colors of Tachyon so I can't say if one is better than the other... but orange is good!

Orange is the only color Tachy I've used, but it rocks with the middle bollard in the super middleweight class.

It's not much the grip but the release which is very jerky...it grabs OK but descending with it gets really risky!!! The comparison with the 13mm is very evident...nice and smooth vs dropping and catching!!! Anyway I don't have the Cougar anymore...I exchange it with Vortex...let's cross fingers...

I run tachyon. Never tried vortex. Once I tried tachyon I switched from safety blue and never looked back. I weigh 130. I'm thinking about switching to the smallest bollard on the bone. Any thoughts?

I always found tachyon sluggish with the bdb Both on ascent and descent and I weigh 200lbs.
At 130 I imagine the smaller bollard would be fine but that may be influenced by your build date.

I like the way you can basically free fall with the cougar, not only is it a blast but it has practical uses too, and it doesn't preclude just releasing it slightly for a slow Descent.

I have not. Was it like this new or did it change after climbing on it?

no, it was easy open and close first few climbs. only thing i can think of is that i must have loaded it without closing it and it bent the pin. i climbed on it the day before yesterday closing it with channel locks but decided to put it aside the last 2 days.
