Compact Bulldog Bone

me too. she runs nicely on the black kmiii. did a few 50' ascent/descent test climbs this afternoon. very intuitive and felt like the tree was more likely to fail than the bone. did a few fast descents to full stop and had no creep. only climbed srt but maybe tomorrow i will try ddrt. thanks Gordon
anyone got a video of a removal on the bone?
I think Mike Powers did...

Tico, a fat rope may indeed work with no bollard at all. You would just have to try it and see if it grips and holds reliably.

ive played around with 13mm lines and it works but it is not as smooth. paying out rope without weigh, like when limbwalking, just isnt as smooth. this is my experience without any bollard. my version of the bone does not have the extra holes to adjust as much.
was shoveling my roof last week (while tied it using the bone because im a sissy when it comes to roof walkin, even tho i live in a single floor ranch) a section of my rope got frozen and simply was not going to pass thru the bone. it was not flexible enough to pass thru the bending points.
im sure this is common sense, but if you like me, sometimes these things dont come to mind until they come to life

Hi Gordon, when I receive mine in a month or two I will try it and do all the testing also with extra weight to see if it creeps or not and I will post it here...thank you, have a great day!

Tico when you get yours all this talk will make more sense. There are lots of ways to adust the friction on the bone. Some come straight from Gordon when you order it and some are just home grown modifications that we try and pass on. Not every combination or modification works for everyones personal variables. My bones are kind of unique with the 1" spacing. I think only a few of us have them that small. I have tried them without a bollard but for me I liked the feel better with the 5/8 bollard. I think some guys have this combo but prefer no bollard, it really just comes down to personal choice with your particular variables. One of the fun things about the Bone and the RR for me was getting in at ground level. It gave me the chance to financially help the inventor by buying one directly, work on personal modifications easier (no rivets), pass my results on through this forum and hopefully help all involved with getting the best products and advice out there. There are always a few hiccups with all new products, and sometimes when reading through some of the threads on here you will read some negative comments about a product but 99% of those are only said to bring light to a small problem. If you read enough on here (Treebuzz) you will see that most products that people don't like and get resold are not really bad products, in fact they are loved by others, they just did not fit into the current owners personal preferences. Get a BDB and have fun, tweak it if needed and let us all know any mods you make and if they worked. More importantly don't think about as buying a piece of gear, but think of it as buying a piece of the future. That statement goes to all new ideas on here as far as I'm concerned whether it's the; BDB, RR, THT, X-Rings, Uni, Richards Uni drum or Magnets........They are all good products for someone. I equate all the different products to Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge. And I almost forgot....Wecome to The Buzz Tico.

Right now I am using 1/2" rope. The new bone tends a bit better than the first model with 5/8" bollard. Small bollard slips to much with my weight. I am ordering 120' of tachyon this week. Should be no er than what I have now.

You are going to love it on that Tachyon!!! I already can tell... so you don't need to have your doubts. 5/8" bollard on the new Bone with Tachyon is sweet!!!

I'm :( about not having a lot of tree work right now... And the family has been sick pretty much every weekend, so I've had to be super dad rather than getting time to play. I'm looking forward to really getting to play with this brilliantly designed device when I can use it more regularly. Thanks Gordon! :numberone:

Warmer weather is coming!!!? :descansando::descansando::asadito:

I see...well, when I wrote 'a month or two', I was kind of joking because I had already ordered mine on the 5th of February and got here on the 10th...but it's still stuck at customs here in Italy...just to say that it may take long before I see it as they told me that they haven't even touched it yet!!!
Anyway, everything you say in your post makes sense to me and I'm open to all the variables and adjustments that I can foresee could happen...thanks for your thoughts and thanks for the welcome...will keep you posted as soon I receive it...I'm sure it's going be a blast!!!
