Even the 2nd one is possible in Humboldt county ... if you could see the Humboldt redwood photo I adjusted earlier this evening.

Climbing a redwood is a dream of mine too but trust me, if you haven't see them in person, don't wait til you're too old. Absolutely stunning! By far in the top 2 of most memorable trips I've been on. Probably my favorite. And that's competing with Italy, Paris, Hawaii, Cabo san Lucas, Jamaica, and Florida! OK, last one was a joke - but there are some cool places in FLA. :)

Interesting reply, with that "Jamaica" included, because I met with a photographer from Jamaica, and her family, in the redwoods last summer and they were in awe ...

Funny thing ...

Right where he's pointing, I photographed exactly that ... and last night posted the same woman on another tree forum. A more recent image, same park.

Its probably 70 feet up, or more. Plus being in Stout Grove, its doubtful someone will try and cut the tree down for the burl like was done once about 1 hour south. The worst culprit was caught and sentenced last year. Doesn't end the problem completely, but I think it put a lot of fear into minds of illegal harvesters when the news went international last year and they made the person caught like a poster-child for poaching.
