Chipping oak

I don't mean to be snarky

It depends on how small the chipper is and how large the wood.

When I mow the yard I grind up smaller branches with my push mulching lawnmower.

Can you share more details about the wood and
Chipper? Pictures of both are even better

Agree with Tom of course, however I can tell you in my experience most of the small hobby chippers (if this is what you mean) I have used you had to force feed them on anything solid and doing so with any decent wood just wears out your hand.

To me I always found it easier/faster to cut it up into small pieces and bundle for removal.

Aren't a lot of the small home owner type chippers often called shredders? A small chipper for an arborist might be marketed as a six inch capacity machine and in reality you would mostly only want to put brush through it up to 3 inch in diameter most of the time. Of course even a beat up old used machine like this would sell for $6,000 or so.

So a shredder that some home owners have (and I have been offered for free - for good reason) might shred oak brush commonly up to an inch and a half in dia or so. Just my thoughts and my guesstimations. :)

So Lorraine welcome to TreeBuzz forum. Would you permit me the latitude to have a conversation with you that often goes on in parts and at times in my head?

Are you trying to put me out of business or what??? :)

You're going to buy a chipper for yourself chip up all your brush and then what am I gonna do to feed my family? :)

I looked up your newly filled out profile page and suspect from your listed age that you will still leave some work for me to do - in some parts of town. :)

But seriously, tell me, all through the years what would have to be going on for someone to say, shoot....we're in trouble here....get me Lorraine? What are you really good at?
