Charitable Nature

I write to you guys and gals without jokes or self demoralizing comments but instead with a purpose.

I've recently been lending a hand to a family that is desperately in need of some help. She is a single mother of two great kids and can't make ends meet. Recently her ex (the fathers kids) has contacted her in order to persuade her into lifting a restraining order off of him because if his job at the prison finds out that he has a restraining order then he'll lose his job, which in turn means that she'll lose the small amount of child support she gets from him. I've pleaded for her to keep the restraining order. He has a history of violence against her and I know that it will only get worse if she lifts it but she can't financially afford the lose of money.

Situations like these are usually helped out by the state but a lot of people (myself included) don't know of the programs available. After a few hours of phone calls I've successfully gotten the ball rolling and state relief is hopefully on it's way. The problem is, they only help with new bills, not old one. That's why I've started charitable nature. My goal is to raise enough money to help her and her family until the state can make a permanent solution. Any donation is appreciated, but if you donate 30$ you will receive a long sleeve charitable nature tshirt. Any donation of 50$ gets you a charitable nature hooded sweat shirt.

All of the proceeds go toward her past bills (gas and electric) and toward her family. I've already taken care of Christmas shopping for the boys so all is good on that front. Once these needs are met, and the state steps in I will be providing other charities funding, including a fallen tree worker fund. Each charity, under the charitable nature name, will have it's own special shirt pressings, unique colour match ups and designs (I'm a sucker for unique designs, always hated the idea that a million other people own the same shirt I do)

I know this isn't what we do here on the buzz. I know it's a bit different but I truely feel that we can help, we can make a difference. Follow the site below for tshirt designs and for ordering info. If you have any questions, pm or email me at charitable.nature@gmail.com

Good for you Marc, this an awesome thing for anybody to do. Helping people out, especially this time of year, is always a noble act.

Look for a check in the mail

Thanks for the support but I can't take credit guys. It's the nature in all of us. I just happened to know of a great person in a tough spot. I've noticed situations just like many of us have where a few extra bucks could help out.

I happen to have a printing press at my disposal and an amazing graphics designer.

I want to give a huge Huge HUGE thanks to my friend and partner matt dera over at justdera.com. If it wasn't for him this would just be another idea that has yet to come to fruition.

This is really awesome FT...I really really wish I could help out. All I can do is send my best to her and her two boys.

Sometimes I wonder if paying for my education is "truly" better then helping someone else out (Sometimes I would rather do this). I mean I have an associates and am fairly skilled in this industry...I could find a job fairly easily.

Okay. Here's the news.

I have convinced the mother to not drop the restraining order. She's worried about the money so I told her that no matter what, if the state doesn't step in to help before the child support goes away I'll personally pay for it myself until help arrives. You guys have made this so much easier to bear and I thank you for that. I just can't stand to see good people down. Something like this, the opportunity that you all have given her and her family is exactly what she needs in her life. It's the break that she's needed her whole life and I thank you all for making this more and more of a reality with every dollar you donate.

A question has been asked of me about how much money is actually being donated and how much is being dished out to make the shirts. I have personally stepped up and paid for the first 25 pressings myself so 100% of the donation for the first 25 shirts will be given to her and her family. After that, a small portion of the donation will go toward the tshirt but the company pressing the shirts (not myself because I couldn't handle an order of this magnitude) will be offering HUGE discounted prices and can actually print for less then I myself could because of there buying power.

The shirts are more like "milestone" contributions. Any and all amounts are welcome. I just have to figure out how to do that through paypal.

A great question had been issued about shipping and honestly, I hadn't thought of that. Shipping will probably be an additional 6$ depending on if the order will fit into the flat rate USPS boxes. Because I didn't mention this before, I will personally pay for the 7 orders I have thus far, other than that a shipping charge will be added.

I'm doing everything I can to keep as low a price as possible and trying to get creative to cut back on shipping costs. If anyone had a good idea I'm all ears

Thank you so much for your generosity thus far. Its never cease to amaze me the generosity some folks feel toward people they've never met. Just amazing stuff.

The ink is en rout, the screens have been burned and the tshirts are being ordered for pressing Monday. I will be leaving this charity open for awhile but I'm trying to make a big push right before Christmas. If you're thinking about ordering now would be the time to do so.

So far we have raised 170$.

Thank you all again for all that you have done. It means more than you could ever know.

hey family tree, if I win the "best photo 2010" contest I started on Riggs's thread, can the members that owe me money just send the $20 checks to this single mother? If in January or February.

Could they get her name and address from you in a private message?

Because I'm thinking I'm going to beat getting on the cover of TCIA magazine before these guys do.

Rules are, the first person that says they have entered the contest and then gets on the cover of tcia wins the pot.

$20 to join the contest.

This is NOT for past copies of TCIA mag. The first eligible issue will be January. Contest could run for years though?

But..... just in case it's a quick contest and I win, can I have those guys just mail their check directly to HER?

All donations are accepted anytime and only through the site.

Paul. The "small" portion depends on what's ordered, the tshirts cost 4$ per, the long sleeves cost 10 and the hooded sweat shirts cost 15 (I don't have an official number, just estimates. I was also told today by the printer that they are donating all of their time, I only have to pay for materials. This is a HUGE help and I've yet to receive what the price difference will be now)
