Thanks a lot.

Sorry Charlie, my English is not that good. I ment I read your PM, not that you had to read my PM to you. It's just that in Dutch there are two distinct different words for read (past)and read (present)(gelezen and lezen).
So it's not a bug in treebuzz Charlie, I didn't PM jou back, but put the reply straight on the buzzboard.

I don't wear the Pfanners (StrechAir)if it is over 30C. I can count those days on one hand and still have fingers left over. Other than that, they are on.

In Texas, and the southern US, there are 4 seasons. No real winter so to help the rest of you northerners and Euros understand, the seasons are basically: Fall, Spring, Summer, and 7th Circle of Hell.

Before Germany, I was working in Austin, TX. The same paralell as southern Morocco. Now I live in souther Germany, same paralell as the US/Canadian border. Some places are just too hot for year round pants, chaps.

I do think they should be worn when it is safe and possible to do so.

I see a lot of the Euro crowd with these insurance concerns that if they get hurt, insurance won't pay because of some safety infraction, etc. These are the same people I see using a chainsaw with pants, but with hikers instead of the required chainsaw boots. If an insurance company isn't required to pay because of an infraction, you can be assured that they will find one.

I think steel straps and chainsaw protection have an important place but can give people a false sense of security.

i dunno about a false sense of security, i personally dont trust my boots or trousers. they are there only as an 'if all else fails'. if i do have a nasty accident and i lose control i dont expect them to stop the saw but i would hope that they would slow it down a lot.

the only piece of ppe (other than helmets, ear defenders and eye pro) should be your brain, dont do stupid things and you wont (shouldnt) get hurt

Mark, have you got those new stihl pants we were talking about a while ago? How do you find them?

I'm not sure that they are the same. Mine are from Germany and are Shoeller dynaic with full front shins of nylon. They are holding up just fine so far.
